Chapter One

Olivia slammed her hotel key into the door slot. She held her breath hoping that this time the damn thing would actually work. It didn’t. The red light flashed. It blinked three times like a mockery; a blatant refusal to give her what she wanted, which at the moment was to crawl into a warm bed preferably surrounded with lots of pillows.

She groaned and slammed the door handle downwards, as if doing so would magically unlock the door. Not surprisingly, it remained shut.
