As most authors might claim, I was always been a natural storyteller and voracious book reader. Somehow, I also knew that some day I would sit down and write a book, which I did quite recently. When I finally sat in front of my computer monitor to do just that, the words literally came pouring out. Before very long, I had written many books in various genres. At first, my prolific writing was mainly for the pleasure and self-entertainment involved, until I discocered Smashwords and ebooks, and here I am, a published author with a long list of books to my credit. And many more to come.

Avengers of Tantura - Yellowstone Disaster
Chapter One
The next two years after Julia's return to Tantura were extremely busy for her as she helped the nation reorganize and rebuild after the horrors that the Hunal had inflicted on it. She worked tirelessly with the governing commission to disperse the growing population from the area where it had been concentrated after the war around where Arizona used to be on Earth, moving them first across North America and then throughout the entire world.
It was massive job to accomplish as the Repopulating Administration worked to assign people based on their specific fondness for a certain area and its environment, which tended to bring together settlers of similar temperaments and lifestyles. Most of these communities were quite small, but a few new cities grew to the size of small cities, where everyone chose to work only in jobs that suited their temperament and intelligence.
Since the entire monetary system on Tantura had collapsed when the planet was nearly depopulated when the Hunal had released the deadly virus, now that the population was rapidly increasing and people returned to wishing to have certain kinds of products, a demand was created for their manufacture. The barter system that had developed after the plague needed to be replaced by a monetary method to simplify everyone's lifestyle, so the government began printing paper money that was backed by the diamonds that they earned in the Alliance Hegemony.
As their sophisticated transportation and electronic structures had not been damaged by the plague or later by the ground war, the new Tanturan peace economy burgeoned when many millions of children of the Earth generals and their quickly maturing offspring had all entered the mainstream of the population, thereby creating a huge demand for new goods and services. The new demands and short supplies caused the reactivation of many production facilities that were run by newly developed corporations, which in turn created more jobs which were filled by returning military personnel from outer space where they had become redundant very quickly as Donna continued automating the running of their spaceships.
Personally, it was a time of great pleasure for Julia as she and Benjamin began a life of bliss as a virtually married couple in Earth' tradition, which became even stronger and unique for Tantura when Dr. Gilbert informed her after a thorough examination that her ovaries had ceased to produce eggs after having been so enormously prolific for so long.
I hope you're not disappointed by it, Julie.
He asked after giving her the news.
No, Gill, not at all because I think it's about time for me to start having a normal life. In Earth terms, I mean.
You'll never be normal that way, you know, only in your production of children, which is as it should be because it had put a tremendous strain on your body even though it was an invisible effect on it.
I'm wondering, though, if as a result of becoming infertile I will start my menopause process and my body will deteriorate as a result.
There's no such thing on Tantura as menopause, which I guess you never knew about it. We just age very slowly in comparison to all other races that we know about, for no reason that I and my colleagues had been able to ascertain as yet.
Maybe it's a good thing that you can't because such knowledge may turn you into a god-like kind of man and Tantura might be overrun by a bunch of longevity seeking crazies like the Hunal.
That's true, but don't you think that we aleady are god-like? Consider how you and your colleagues had come to be here and tell me what we had done to bring you all back to life and tell me that it wasn't a god-like occurrence.
Yeah, but that was a unique once in a lifetime event because of the circumstances that surrounded it.
Not quite because we still possess the scientific means to repeat it again and again with the melding of our minds and certain machines that are capable of transferring a mind from an about to die body into a live mindless one to serve as host.
Jesus, I didn't think about that.
You should have because it wasn't something overly unique. Heck, even you could serve as a catalyst to perform such a feat, you know, once you acquire the ability to travel physically between two parallel worlds.
I wouldn't want to do that.
I doubted that you would, which is why I told you about it.
Thanks. Anyway, is my condition going to hit us all?
I understand from talking to Mell that it has aleady happened to all with the exception of Donna, who'll be getting there soon enough.
Another question, will our libido diminish as a result of this condition?
No, not at all. And you'll also remain as young looking and vibrant practically until your death.
That's good to know.
Julia's most enjoyable task was not only to organize the training for all young Tanturans who now had to enlist in the draft by decree of the government, but constantly joining them personally side-by-side in some of the hardest exercises that they underwent. She was also pleased that Chris decided to follow her example and participated in all the training as well. This fact endeared them greatly to both recruits and their families all over Tantura.
She kept in touch personally with the navy and troops in Hunal and Xamyu, and visited them at any time that her tight schedule allowed it and always accompanied by Chris, Scotty, and Benji. Her personal appearance in the courts and government houses of the various Alliance planets helped cement Tantura's relationship with them, especially her personal touch with all the assigned naval forces that helped protect their trade routes.
Her life of bliss ended on such a visit when the four of them joined a destroyer escorting heavily laden merchantman between Xamyu and Nardi, when they were attacked by a pirate who apparently was not aware that things had changed in Alliance space and that the second ship of the small convoy was a heavily armed military ship. To the pirate's horror, the moment his ship approached the Xamyuan ship and demanded that it stop and be boarded or else be blown to bits, both the destroyer and merchantman opened fire on him in tandem and disabling him immediately.
Wishing to capture the pirate ship as intact as possible, the captain of the destroyer sent a shuttle loaded with a squad of Special Marines to board it with Benjamin and Scott eagerly accompanying them in the hope of participating in subduing the pirates. What no one was aware of was that one missile that the destroyer had fired at them had penetrated the pirate's magazine room where it had smoldered until its internal fire reached the detonator. When the missile blew up it detonated all the various explosives in the magazine room, which blasted the enter ship to small pieces just as the Marines disembarked in the entry port. Julia and Chris, who were watching the operation on the bridge monitor, turned utterly pale when they saw the explosion and realized instantly what had happened.
Son of a bitch,
Chris exclaimed in a gruff voice. We'd just been widowed in one fell swoop.
We sure have been.
Julia responded in a barely audible whisper. Losing our poor sweet darlings in one stupid hit.
They looked at each other's tear-filled eyes before hugging tightly for a moment, before they saw the bridge crew members looking at them with great pity in their eyes, and quickly separated. Come on General,
Chris mumbled. Let's behave like generals in public and cry our hearts out in our cabin.
Right you are, General.
Julia said as she disengaged from her and both left the bridge with dignity.
When they returned to Tantura two days later, they kept their normal expressions frozen on their faces and did not respond to anyone's condolences. They moved out of their homes into one home where they lived together to only show their grief in the presence of one another. Both applied themselves to their work exclusively and refused to have any social contacts even with their old friends. Six months later, they received an unexpected visit from Melinda at home one evening.
Sorry for barging in on you, my friends.
She said when the all sat down in the living room. But I have an important project that I'd like discuss with you.
What kind of project, Mell?
Julia asked suspiciousely.
Well, it came up this morning when at the governing committee, which you have been avoiding lately, a couple of issues came up that we'll need your help with.
What kind of issue?
Chris asked without responding to her comment about missing the meeting.
One of them was the fact that now that we're at peace with the world our people have developed a taste for most of the old luxuries that we used to possess before the plague and are as yet much too busy to manufacture and supply the public with because manufacturing-wise we're still basically on a war footing.
Such as?
Silly stuff like great scented perfumes, toothpaste and deodorants, sexy panties and other clothes, hair dryers, and many such things that civilized people like to have, like booze and tobacco products.
I agree about that, but what's it got to do with us?
Julia asked.
A lot, Julie. What we'd like you to do is return to Earth for a while and create a trading company that will buy all this stuff and then store it in a warehouse from where we'll transport it over here by using our mental abilities.
You want us to use our military experience to become Tantura's toothpaste and deodorant agents?
Come on, Julie, who else other then your colleagues can we send over to Earth who can move freely among the earthlings with perfect ease?
You just answered your own question, Mell, that we are two out of seven who can do it, so why us in particular?
Because our financial position of owning billions of dollars in worthless diamonds but very little cash to use for buying anything worthwhile on Earth.
Julia burst into laughter. So you'd like me to use my personal contact with the premier international diamond dealers in the world to convert our stash into cash? Makes sense, I guess, but if I do that I'll have to reveal to Moish where I got them from because he'll certainly ask and I'll have to tell him the full truth about my source.
"We had considered that issue and decided that the time has come for us to set up a relationship with some of Earth's people just in case the need arises. Actually, with my detailed knowledge of the United States, I suggested that we stay away from revealing our existence to the political establishment and instead establish bonds with the
