About this ebook

As time passed after the demise of Hitler, Stalin, and their hordes of killers of millions of innocent people, the flood of the multitude of these offenders who were sent to the fire pits of Hell as punishment for their sins began to diminish to barely a trickle. Greatly concerned with the low number of new sinners, Hell's executive council searched for a means to increase their numbers. Their solution, since the edict under which they operate prohibits them from directly interfering in human affairs, was to create a half human--half demon hybrid who could operate outside this constraint and create mass mayham and chaos on Earth.
Clever though it was, the demon plot is foiled when the Arhcangel Michael discovers the demonic plot and creates his own agent on Earth, the Demon Slayer, to kill Hell's hybrid and prevent their impending disaster.
The events in this story of another struggle between good and evil take place in our own present, giving the protagonists a real character and fascinating adverntures.

As most authors might claim, I was always been a natural storyteller and voracious book reader. Somehow, I also knew that some day I would sit down and write a book, which I did quite recently. When I finally sat in front of my computer monitor to do just that, the words literally came pouring out. Before very long, I had written many books in various genres. At first, my prolific writing was mainly for the pleasure and self-entertainment involved, until I discocered Smashwords and ebooks, and here I am, a published author with a long list of books to my credit. And many more to come.

    Demon Slayer

    Chapter One

The meeting of the executive committee of Hell was held deep in the bowels of the Earth under the floor of the Judean Desert, where the headquarters of Sheol was located. The meeting was presided over by Amaymon, a Prince of Hell and Satan’s top lieutenant, who looked even grimmer than his normally horrific visage.

We have a problem, my friends, that is disturbing the Boss dreadfully. He stated as he looked at the six demons assembled in his office.

And what is it that bothers the Devil so much that that he instructed you to bring us all to your office? Belial, the Prince of Darkness, asked sourly.

The fact that our fire pits are getting less and less populated as the old stream of human sinners is turning into a virtual trickle, which in his opinion means that you and your underlings are sloughing off.

We are not, Protested Balam, the three-headed bear-like demon. It’s the fault of the humans for improving their character and lifestyle to such a degree that they have virtually wiped major wars and crime from the face of the Earth.

That’s very true, Amaymon, Lilith, the infamous temptress, agreed. And it’s getting worse all the time as the humans become more and more just and honorable.

Yes, that’s what I see as I walk the Earth looking for sinners. Ornias, a troublemaking shape shifter, agreed. Which is literally putting us out of business.

That’s my observation as well. Amaymon agreed with them all. So we must find a solution to the problem or end up becoming inconsequential little demons. Any ideas?

Everyone remained quiet for a while as they considered the issue they were confronted with, until Lilith burst out. I think I got it.

Got what? I hope it’s nothing that would get us in trouble.

Well, since our prime directive is that we can’t physically influence the humans to do anything against each other, I thought that we might try to accomplish it through inserting a cuckoo into their midst who will act as our agent to create great havoc amongst them that will generate a great number of sinners worthy of being sent to our fire pits and make the Boss very happy.

You’d completely lost me, Lilith, Amaymon grumbled. What exactly are you talking about?

That we should take an example from Earth’s cuckoo bird who, and I guess you’re not aware of their habits, and insert a hybrid into human society—a half demon and half human to whom the Prime Directive does not apply, and place him with a high-powered human family.

I’m still confused about what you’re talking about.

You wouldn’t be if you got off your fat ass once in a while and went upstairs to the human domain to learn a bit more a about them. Most cuckoo birds, you see, are brood parasites, which means that rather than build a nest and raise their brood after mating, these birds lay their eggs in other species' nests to be hatched, cared for, and fed by the bogus parents who at times are only a quarter of the size of the cuckoo chick. As these chicks grow in size they must get rid of the food competition by murdering all the other chicks in the nest by heaving them out of it to fall to their death. The bogus parents have no idea of what is happening and keep feeding the cuckoo chick until it matures and flies away, having grown to many times the size of its care-givers.

They sound like highly demonic creatures. But how will you use these special children to help us achieve our goals?

I am talking about just one male hybrid for whom we’ll select specific would-be parents—a very rich and highly influential couple with a father who’s heavily involved in politics, preferably a senator or even a governor of an important state.

What’s the reason for that, I mean for what purpose?

So that once our half breed reaches the age of thirty-five he’ll be eligible to become the president of the United States, to which post he’ll be easily elected because of his lofty background and political experience by that time.

And as such he will be able to influence world events to create a lot of strife that in turn will produce situations that will pervert many nations and their populations to be fit residents in our institution?

Exactly, very much like Hitler, Stalin, and the Jihadists with their horrific followers who murdered millions of innocent people, the kind that the Boss will love to turn into permanent residents of Hell.

Sounds fantastic, Lilith, but how will you accomplish such a complicated state of affairs?

That should be easy to accomplish. First, to create the hybrid creature we’ll use the Gorgon Sisters who prefer copulating with humans, and have one of them allow herself to conceive a male child that they’ll exchange with a just born human baby at the moment it emerges from its mother’s belly without anyone being aware of it. Then, after a short while, I’ll make myself known to the hybrid and inform him of who he really is and what is required of him, then guide him throughout his life to do our biddings.

Amaymon, followed by everyone else, applauded Lilith. You’re a genius, Lili, to come up with such a plan, which I’m sure will please Satan to no end. Heck, I’m sure that he’ll reward you greatly for it.

That will be nice. Lilith blushed with pleasure.

The two female demons, one of whom had just reached the point of bearing her child, were present in the birthing room of a very exclusive private hospital in New York City, unseen and unheard by the team of nurses and the gynecologist who were assisting Mrs. O'Malley, the wife of one of the richest men in the United States and a congressman from New York, give birth to her third son.

As the birthing process reached its final stage and the baby started descending through the birth canal, the pregnant demon who was lying on the floor in an empty corner, began expelling her own baby at the command of the other who watched attentively as the human's child was being born. Then, once the baby emerged and its umbilical cord was cut by the doctor, everyone in the room literally froze in mid-activity as Euryale removed the newborn half demon male from her sister Stheno's body and bit off it's umbilical.

It was easy to remove the human baby from the doctor's hands and replace it with the just-born tiny demon and, a moment later, everything in the birthing room returned to normal as it was handed to the nurse to be cleaned up and then put through the official registration procedure that all infants undergo in the United States in order to be forever identified by finger and foot prints from the moment they're born.

Once in possession of the human baby, Euryale snapped its neck before it had a chance to cry out and left the room with Stheno close on her heel until they reached, unseen, the nearest stairwell door, which she opened quickly. Then, behind the closed door, she handed the dead body to her sister and said in an utterly sincere voice, which Stheno knew was false since that was her nature as a demon.

Since you did the hard work here you deserve to feed on it first while its flesh is still warm and supple.

Stheno tore one of the baby's arm off and handed it to her sister, smiling malevolently. I will, but I'd like you to feed with me.

    Thank you, Sister.

They fed with great relish, tearing pieces off the baby's soft body without letting any of it or its blood fall to the floor before teleporting themselves back to their home in Hell where the Gorgons lived together when not traveling on Earth’s surface and causing great mischief while seeking men for sexual pleasure and then devouring them with afterward.

An hour later, both of them teleported into the office of Amaymon, who was ranked in power and influence right below Satan. He gave the two voluptuous naked demons an appreciative warm smile when they suddenly popped to stand in front of his desk, appreciating their unusual beauty which was enhanced by a head covered with dozens of hissing and squirming little serpents. So you're done with your task, my dears? He asked.

Yes, my Prince. Euryale answered. And it was easy to accomplish because of the humans' frailty, both in mind and body.

Don't ever underestimate them, Euryale, because weak as they are these creatures can be much more crafty than we are and therefore always cause us great harm. Which is why Lilith and I had devised this program so that none of us will ever need to worry about having enough humans to torture ever again.

By having our own control over the most powerful country on earth? Stheno asked.

Exactly. Alright, Euryale, are you ready to receive your reward?

Absolutely. Euryale said and dropped to all four in the center of the office, watching as Amaymon rose out of his chair and approached her, admiring his massive goat's lower body with his fully extended penis before he mounted her and inserted himself with brute force into her body. As always happened to any female that he copulated with, Euryale fainted and fell on her belly to the floor once she was filled with his seed.

Once done, Amaymon grinned at Stheno and after patting her backside, left her to care for her sister, who he knew would remain passed out for several hours as a result of their copulation.

    Chapter Two

Paul Brady woke up early on a Monday morning in the small one-bedroom apartment that he had rented two years earlier after the death of his wife, feeling so worn out that he barely made it to the bathroom and back to the living room where he literally dropped with a thud into a soft couch, almost powerless to control his body.

No wonder I’m just about a goner, he thought with a grim grin. Hell, I’m just about eighty-one and my worn-out body and mind don’t seem to want to go on functioning. Despite this ghastly realization, Paul wasn’t too sad about reaching what he thought of as the end of the road after a long and highly active life with the woman that he had fallen in love with for many years and had been married to for sixty years, from the very day that he had graduated from Annapolis. But what the hell, he thought, it had been a great life and I shouldn’t feel sorry that it’s about to end.

About to let go of the final threads of his life, Paul suddenly sat up straight when he sensed a strange presence in the room and felt as though he, mostly his mind, was being prevented from departing from his reality, literally by force.

What the hell is going on here? He exclaimed angrily out loud.

Close, Paul, but you should have said Heaven rather than Hell. An unfamiliar voice responded.

Paul looked all around him but could see no one, yet spoke again into the empty room. Who are you, or was the voice I just heard an illusion of a dying old man?

No, no fantasy. Just look across from you and you’ll find out.

When Paul did, he saw a shape materialize near the chair across from the couch and could not believe his eyes when took on the form of an angel as the myths had suggested one would look like—it was formed pretty much like a heavily muscled extremely handsome naked man with alabaster-like skin that glowed with an eerie light in the semi-dark room. But the strangest thing about him was that before he dropped into the armchair behind him, he folded huge gossamer wings that now lay on his back.

Oh Jesus, it must be an illusion because you look like an….

Angel? That right, The creature finished his sentence. Because I am one and my name’s Michael.

Michael, like the mythological protector of Humankind?

Exactly, Paul. That’s who I am, and I came here on an urgent mission to do just that. With your help, of course.

Paul burst into laughter. You’re about fifty years too late to ask me for help in whatever mission you intend for me regardless of how vital or important it is.

Michael gave him a very serious look. It indeed is extremely important that we join forces because my objective is to prevent a terrible disaster from befalling mankind, that’s been perpetrated by the worst forces of evil residing in the demon realm. Probably more evil than Hitler’s and Stalin’s combined.

Paul shuddered visibly. Sounds dreadful, but how can a man who was about to surrender his body and mind to the void help you in such a monumental endeavor?

That’s not a problem because what I need from you is your mind rather than your body, because of the fact that you possess the kind of experience that no one else that we know of fits the bill.

Sounds like a great adventure that I’d like to participate in and the reason for your great need for my talents and experience tells me that it involves national security, both of which would’ve been extremely enticing had I been a young man. But the fact is that not only am I an old and weak man, I’m now also on death’s doorstep. Paul stopped suddenly. What exactly did you mean when you said that you need my mind rather than my body? Don’t they go together?

Not really. The fact is that the human mind depends on its body to nurture and keep it alive while it is set up to keep the body functioning. You could say that it’s a symbiotic existence since each depends on the other for survival and both are exclusively dedicated to this chore. However, what would you say if I told you that your mind could be removed from your body and yet continue to function?

I’d say you were nuts because even if you could do such a thing, like you just said, the mind needs a functioning body if it is to continue existing.

Which is a fact, but what if your mind were installed in a well-functioning body—a donor body that is young and healthy? As to your question about my ability to do it, you seem to forget who and what I am, Michael emphasized this fact by extending and flopping his wings for a moment.

Point well made. But then, I wonder how and where you’d get a healthy donor who’ll willingly give his life so my mind could continue living? Actually, the more I think about it the more it sounds like you intend to mentally murder someone in order to recruit me for whatever plot you have in mind, which I won’t stand for.

I like the fact that you won’t tolerate killing any human being so that you could live again, Paul. But that isn’t necessary because my intent is to secure a donor for you who is what you’d call brain dead while his body continues functioning because it’s hooked up to a life support machine.

    "Jesus,
