HOW TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT
WEIGHT LOSS
There are weight loss stories all around us. Every month 11,100,000 searches are conducted on Google for the words “weight loss.” Yes, that’s EVERY month and, yes that is over 120 million searches per year. What percentage of those people need to buy your book on weight loss in order for you to make an extra $500.00, $1,000.00, or more?
Weight loss has become an international obsession and you have an opinion, observation, personal story, unique perspective, training, knowledge, and so much more to share. Perhaps you have struggled with reaching your ideal weight yourself, or you work for one of the many companies that offer help to people who want to lose weight, maybe you are a personal trainer or coach, a health care professional, workshop leader or speaker and want to share your thoughts with the world. Writing a book brings credibility and authority and you probably already know that.
Weight loss success stories are not the only kind of books that inspire people. Your book might show success but also the powerful inspiration that comes from trying and failing and then getting up to try again. Who is not aware of Oprah’s struggle with her weight? You can now enter the world of writing, publishing, speaking, and inspiring others to find success with their weight issues – just like Oprah. You have seen many articles, blogs and advice on the benefits of writing a book. You know about the credibility it brings and the fact that a book, written by you, is the best business card on the planet. Your own book will help you find better jobs, more clients, speaking opportunities, media exposure, and income. The idea of writing a book may have occurred to you after being exposed to one of the many internet gurus who have tons of advice about how to market and sell your book – “just write it,” is their call to action.
Just write it indeed! Perhaps you have already tried. Perhaps you don’t know where to start. Perhaps you don’t have the time. Perhaps you don’t have a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing. Perhaps you think you don’t have the credentials in your topic. Now, there is professional help from a bestselling author that shows you step-by-step how to write your own book that will propel you into the profitable and (excuse the pun) hungry weight loss market.
You will learn how to:
•CREATE A BESTSELLING TITLE AND TABLE OF CONTENTS

Writing a book about weight loss is within your grasp if you can bring expertise or personal experience to the exercise. Sure there are lots of books out there already but your unique perspective will resonate with many people because they share your point of view or they share your challenge.
The vast majority of early stage authors who want to write a non-fiction book also have a full time career or responsibilities. This book and program is designed especially for them. If you use this book as your template and commit one hour per day to your own writing, you will complete a well-written manuscript that will bring credibility, opportunity and perhaps much more to you. You do not need to be a professional writer, English literature major or a graduate student of spelling, punctuation and grammar in order to become a successful author. You do need a reason to create a book, an opinion to share, knowledge to pass along, a perspective to offer, a story to tell, a desire for increased exposure, recognition or credibility. It also helps, but is not essential, if one of the things you include in your various networking profiles
is the word, reader.
To be a successful author in this world, you might need some guidance, encouragement and advice and you now have that before your eyes. That, combined with the willingness to carve out an hour a day from your overloaded schedule, will create a new status for your profile, published author.
INTRODUCTION
Oh, you’re writing a book. I’ve tried to write a book several times and can’t seem to get past the first few pages. How did you do it?
Everyone who has shared the fact that they have written a book has heard this remark from an erstwhile, yet struggling, author-in-the-making. You may have decided to read this book because you have experienced the same problem - can’t get past the first few pages, can’t find the time, and can’t seem to get motivated. I understand what you are going through because I have either heard it many times from clients or workshop attendees, or I have used the same excuses myself. Without much planning, I managed to power my way through my first book by leaving a job I hated for an hour every morning, sitting at a table in a nearby shopping mall food court and spending the time writing. It was an escape to be sure but I still felt like I was accomplishing something, so I was able to justify the daily ritual to myself. I liked the routine so much that I decided to write a second book in the same manner but created a better working process for myself. I realized that writing allowed a creative energy to release itself that had been kindled through a strong interest in stage acting, but which had remained unfulfilled beyond high school.
I found an outlet for something that had been bottled up inside for several decades. Along the way, I spent over thirty years in various business environments that resulted in several things, but especially a strong need to bring process
to a project and keep a constant eye on both sales and the bottom line.
Following the publication of my first book, The West Coast Trail: One Step at a Time, my wife threw a big party and invited a lot of friends and a number of things came to light as a result: firstly, I sold over a hundred books that night, which was great, my ego took a big boost from all of the flattering (and a few envious) comments and I cannot count how many times I heard one of the sentences I started this introduction with, I’ve tried to write a book several times too, but...
Now, I was surrounded that night by some very intelligent, well-spoken, motivated and interesting people who were more than capable of doing what I had done, or so I thought. One of the other comments that I heard then and many times since was, I just can’t seem to move it forward, can’t seem to find the time and motivation...
These sorts of things began to play around in my mind and what developed was a back and forth battle between my creative self and my business self as I wanted to understand on the one hand, and help on the other.
The process
section of my brain began to look at my own methods of writing, study other successful authors and begin researching what aids and help existed for aspiring writers. My creative side began wondering about how I could best assist people who had been unable to create their own books. By chance, an acquaintance asked if I might provide her with some one-on-one coaching in her effort to write a book. I didn't give it much thought prior to agreeing but once I had done so, I needed to come up with a method
