Deity of the Desert I: Arrival

About this ebook
Ever since they met, Nathan and Astrid have chased the ghosts of ancestry across the world to learn more of the forgotten past that gave birth to such a wide range of humanoid races.
While Nathan is perfectly human, his companion, Astrid, is a much darker skinned and hot-blooded crossbreed descended from a far more draconic race mingling with humans so long ago. Her wit is sharp and claws sharper, but after tolerating the blazing heat of the desert for so long, she only has one thing on her mind: The desire to breed with her mate.
It's a near instinctive lust that leaves her burning in the heat of the harsh desert sun, and only the feel of his cum will cool her down. Once they're finally within the safety of the city walls and have a pool to themselves to enjoy, Astrid no longer has the will power to resist her urges.
Not even the implication of being watched and threat of being found out can stop her, but the feeling of being less than human for her desire bows her head in submission to her lover and mate. If she wants him inside, she'll have to earn it, first.

I am (not) a vampire. I say that both to spark humour and because you have to imagine vampires would get bored of the same eclectic castles and slowly developing society after a few hundred years and travel the world a bit. While not over hundreds of years, I have had the opportunity to travel and lived in such places in the United States as New Mexico, Arkansas, New Jersey, Philadelphia visited friends in New York and Washington DC.Born in and returned to England, I've had a similar stint of living the length and breadth of this island nation and chance to visit the art galleries in Paris and dark reaches of the most northern Norway.I am a writer, and creating such diversity and colour as exists in the world has been one of the few consistencies in my much-traveled life. Perhaps it was growing up with such things as Mario Paint, a typewriter and Father that had worked in military communications that drew me to creativity and writing. My typewriter is now a mechanical keyboard on a PC capable of more than you could imagine back then. Now one of the other consistencies that's remained true to my life since then is my desire to do something that moves people. If I can enter your life with my writing, and make you feel good, smile and enjoy what I've done, that's exactly what I live for. It's something reflected in a history of graphical design work where I aimed to design involving and moving imagery, voluntary employment with Oxford Famine Relief (more commonly known as Oxfam) to a management level and nationally certified customer service.I sincerely hope you enjoy any, if not all of my work here the way I've enjoyed putting heart and soul into every piece.

Arrival
They say the world is full of mystery. Full of myth and buried wonder from lost ages. Buried by the ground, swallowed by the sea and spirited away on the winds. People love tall tales of these lost wonders, but what separates the average folktale from making history is those who rise to the challenge. Those who risk life, limb and endure the world’s harshest conditions to find the lost and forgotten.
Ugh, Tessera dammit it’s hot! Why couldn’t we have travelled at night?!
Because, Astrid, by night I would have to deal with freezing, driving blind and Zubbaj night-fliers. Much worse than what’s out in the day.
Nathan – the man cloaked and masked in white, driving the wagon – had made this point before and showed no more enthusiasm in repeating it for the fifth time. Luckily the lumbering beasts in front didn’t care about the overcast heat of the desert sun. The stocky oxen were bred in these parts, especially around the borders to the Zo’qeth desert for sake of travellers.
Astrid’s bloodline, however, did not pass on endurance to extreme heats. Not anymore.
Leaning over, Nathan picked up a rather ornate and archaic looking rifle from under a thick cloth and aimed it ahead, off the side of the road. The sand around a pile of bones looked disturbed, and sure enough, as the oxen drew near, a yozqa snake slithered up. The creature stood with pitch-black scales and a strong enough body to push up the skull of the less fortunate traveller, wearing it as a helm.
