Chapter 1

Thaddeus is a cute kid and I really don't mind babysitting him. He's got floppy blond hair and underneath his wide rimmed glasses he has his mom's blue eyes. I've been babysitting him since he was about a year old when they moved in down the block. He's six now, and I'm eighteen. They're actively seeking a new babysitter since I'll be moving out of town to go to college at the end of the summer. That's why when my phone rang and I saw it was Janice I hesitated briefly.

This is Cerra, I said, answering.

Hey Cerra, this is Janice. I have an odd job for you.

I blinked and turned to a blank paper in the back of my binder so I could write down when she needed me.
