    INTRODUCTION

Disney Cruise Line is pricier than many competing cruise lines like Carnival and Royal Caribbean, but it offers a premium, Disney-branded product. It's the only cruise line on which you can sail with Mickey Mouse, the Disney Princesses, and other beloved Disney characters, see first-run Disney movies, and even party with pirates as you watch a fireworks display. Other cruise lines, like Royal Caribbean, are taking a page out of Disney's success manual and putting popular characters like Shrek and the Madagascar animals on their own ships, but Disney Cruise Line still has the ships of choice for die-hard Disney fanatics.

There are many ways to save money and make your Disney cruise more affordable. The great thing about cruising in general is that once you pay for your trip (and if you pre-pay the customary gratuities for dining and stateroom service, which Disney Cruise Line allows you to do), you can have a great time without paying another penny on the ship. Zero. Nada. Zip. Your meals, accommodations, and plenty of entertainment options are all included in the cruise cost. Some of the amenities on Disney's cruise ships include:

-Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at several different restaurants, with your choice of table service or buffet for breakfast and lunch. You have an assigned restaurant at dinner time, although you can choose a casual dining option on certain nights of certain itineraries.

-24-hour-a-day room service. There are some extra cost items on the menu, like alcoholic beverages, soda in cans, and candy, but most items are free.

-Lunch on Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, at three different buffets. Two are near the family beach areas and one is by the adult beach and is for adults only.

-Fast food outlets and beverage stations on board the ships. You'll never go hungry on a cruise
