    Chapter One: Introduction

    The book was first published in 1740. The story revolves around a maid servant named Pamela Andrews. She happens to be fifteen years old at the opening of the novel. Mr. B. happens to be her nobleman master, but he tries to make unwanted advances towards Pamela after the death of his mother.

    Pamela had been the maid of his mother since she was twelve years old. Since Pamela is very beautiful and she is quite innocent and intelligent, Mr. B is infatuated with her. Owing to his high status in the society, he can’t propose her marriage.

    At last, Mr. B abducts her and locks her up in one of his estates. He tries to seduce and rape her, but he does not succeed. Pamela continues to reject him, but she soon finds that she is falling in love with her abductor.
