Preface:

Ghosts are just a part of the landscape in Ireland. Believe it or not, ghosts are common anomalies to see around a house, park, a castle and just about any place where human habitation exist. Some areas are filled with more than one ghosts and it is either whether you live with them or not.You'll hear an incredible number of Irish ghost stories in this land as ancient as time and in just about any place you might see even on a bridge or an abandoned railway track. There's the ghost in the pub, the ghost of the witch with the shrieky laugh who never seems to go away, the ghost of the headless horseman who seeks to make the same rounds he did for centuries gone by and the ghosts in the castle, the ones who live and just never want to die. And yes, for those who love fairy stories, there are so many stories which abound about whether they are real and some claim them to be so, just as much as those who have seen the leprechauns suddenly leap from nowhere right in front of them only to disappear so quickly you wished you saw them just a little better this time!

With all this in mind, it is little wonder why tourist attractions which are considered haunted like the many 450 castles and hotels across Ireland today, tempt visitors with holiday getaways in castles and hotels which will rock you for many sleepless nights in the many months to come. Then of course there are the rides. Let's not forget those because if you love a ghost ride, take the ghost bus tours which will run you all across the famous haunted spots. You might just get lucky seeing the orbs and maybe some apparitions as others have. Get a scratch maybe? Some have. There are two ghost tours in Dublin and they chime with so much fun and laughs for the intriguing ghost adventurer. Some are manned by paranormal experts who know everything about the place and have lots more to tell you about why they think the place is so haunted. So yes, you learn plenty about the history and about the haunts and what you saw!

Ireland is a beautiful country marked by a land that is green and lush, replete with people from all sorts of inclinations and a country steeped with history and ancientness, a country that though tainted by wars so serious and painful as the Cromwellian wars and the Irish Civil War of 1922 for instance, has still managed to store much of its history in ways you will find most intriguing as with many of the castle foundations and ruins for instance and the landscape which though in ruins, still tell you about the ancient Celts. Where the town grew, there was always a trace of the metals which made trade so crucial for the Irish people. History in Killarney for instance dates back to the early Bronze over some 4,000 years ago when copper was first mined in Ross Island. Many monasteries and nunneries were also created all over the Irish landscape and these places somehow ensured the flourishing of the local towns some of which have a history that traces back several centuries. There are also many ancient stone sites in Ireland the reason of their existence still warped in so much mystery. If you read the story on the Dublin Hellfire Club, you will find out that just maybe Satan decided to camp in his new place since his sacred stones were used for something other than what it should have been used for. Maybe, he wanted to teach the disrespectful humans a lesson for desecrating his site and so he sparked just about any mischief he chose and he couldn't have asked for more fun when the Hellfire Club took over now could he? Surely they made his job so easy and he in turn had caused so much controversy over the years!

Whatever it is, Ireland is just like a page off a book on magic. You will hear about the ancient druids who kept their secrets by way of mouth only, the gnomes and the leprechauns and the fairies who camp in the woods, and then of course you will know that beneath the pages you flip through, there are also a lot of strange stories to tell about the supernatural and about witchcraft. The literature on the supernatural even demonstrates with the famous story about James Joyce in his 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' in which he speaks in part about his own life in the school where to see a ghost like the big black dog with the red eyes was such a common sight. And there are of course the other famous Irish writers like Oscar Wilde who wrote the The Canterville Ghost to please the imagination of every child and adult, as well as the intriguing story of The Picture of Dorian Gray. There is so much that goes on in Ireland beneath the hum of its modernization, so much stories that are ancient and not too forgotten that it simply draws the human soul further into its vault. Once there, whichever path you choose, you will probably find more stories and more mysteries to take you to the next lap of your journey just two miles away for another fun trip into the paranormal. But just be careful where you walk because the woods are ancient and the trees speak plenty, and the stories that are told have sometimes no time as to when it began at all. You might just spot the
