Not With A Machine Gun At My Back Would I Ever Hit 12 Or Over
Author

James Irvin, Jr

As a former prosecutor and public defender, attorney Jim Irvin has seen a variety of cases from both sides of the courtroom. His vast experience gives him unique insight into South Carolina law and has fostered his own passion for helping people. Attorney Irvin's own vision has focused his entire firm on giving people a helping hand and helping them get their lives back on track. Mr. Irvin became particularly interested in the book "Not with a machine gun to my back would I ever hit 12 or over". As an avid Blackjack player, he utilized the tools taught in this strategy and saw an opportunity to help many other Blackjack players by teaching him the same. Mr. Arnie Van, the author of this book had been unable to publish his work for many years. He sold publishing rights to Mr. Irvin, in hopes that their collaboration would one day spread the knowledge contained to the masses of people it could potentially benefit.

    PREFACE

THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED GET THIS BOOK DONE

BRADLEY ARNOLD. An ex-dealer of Blackjack from Lafayette, California. He helped do counts with me at the shows and took the trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe with me to play and do counts at the casinos. When I needed financial assistance he was always there. If he didn’t have it. Super-A-1 Person.

JOHN SHEIRICK. Owner of the Outpost Card Room and Restaurant in San Ramon, California. Undoubtedly the classiest card room operator in the country. His Outpost Card Room and Restaurant in San Ramon, California. Undoubtedly the classiest card room operator in the country. His Outpost was my home away from home. Super food, super atmosphere – super people. Phil – Byron – Mitch - John – all of them. If you want to play Lo-Ball, the Outpost is the place.

MICHAEL J. The funniest man alive in my estimation. I lived with him in California and there was no way you could get down in the dumps with him around.

TO UNCLE JOHN H. Who gave up his bed to me. Who always knew when things were bad and never waited to be asked. He was always there – Offering and Giving.

GENE NORVELL, Pacheco Inn, Pacheco, California. Bought this car from me and then proceeded to help me sell about a dozen more.

HOLIDAY INN, Fresno, Ca. This Holiday Inn has – without a doubt the greatest group of people that I have ever run up against. The innkeeper, the girls and especially Harry Chung, the man who sets up the banquet facilities. Before I could do what I had to do – It was done. Super service from super people. I did 3 different seminars there and always had over 75 people. Thanks again.

DENNY’S RESTAURANTS. My oasis in the desert. Four seminars a day – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. – Not 5 minutes rest between them. At 11 p.m. I’m hungry. Denny’s saves my life. Best Steak and Eggs in the country. When you see that yellow sign you know all is not lost. I sincerely believe the cook gets up very early, gets into his super super sonic jet, flies to every Denny’s in the country and cooks. Denny’s food is super and It always tastes the same – no matter which one you eat at. It has to be done by one cook and a fast jet – Don’t ever close, please. I’ll starve to death.

TO STEVE WILSON of KGO-T.V. San Francisco. I really believe he thought he was doing the right thing. He just doesn’t know too much about Blackjack.

TO THE SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER – CHRONICLE. who wouldn’t publish the story by Lewis Leader. The casino advertising revenue is mightier than the pen.

Last But Not Least MIKE-DUMAN FORD MERCURY in Suffolk, Va. The last stop to put the book together. To Mike Duman, Joe Battaglia, Willie Strickland, Bob Edwards, Ralph Gray, Frank Jones, Frank Peters, Ken McDaniels all of them who put up with all my Jazz while I put the book together. The management, I thank for letting me work on my book while I was selling cars and making money. The salesmen who covered for me when I left and did shows. The girls in the office — Peggy, Patti Kay and Rose. They all put up with my ups and downs. I thank you, sincerely.
