While researching this review, I learned a lot of tasty trivia about The Godfather:
• Author Mario Puzo, whose 1969 novel was the basis of the movie, coined the usage of “godfather” as it relates to the heads of Italian crime families.• Paramount Pictures insisted that Marlon Brando do a screen test. Eager to play Don Corleone, the controversial actor complied.• Actor James Caan originally heard the phrase “badabing!” from the real-life mobster Carmine Persico• In the infamous horse head scene, an Oscar statue can be seen on the nightstand. It had been awarded to director Francis Ford Coppola for writing .• The Italian-American Civil Rights League held a rally at Madison Square Garden protesting that the movie defamed Italian Americans.
