Dedication
This book is dedicated to obtaining justice for Erica D’Anitoff Williams, three and a half years and her young father Arthur Eric Williams, 27 years who died in their Labrador Development Company home, Port Hope Simpson, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in acrimonious, suspicious circumstances in the early hours of 3 February 1940. This is what Bill wrote in his letter to the first get- together of the VSO teachers at Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire 1-3 August 2003, "...Labrador called to you and we are calling you now. I hope you will do what you can during these few days to fill in the Labrador record with your recollections and reflections. This too will be an important contribution to Labrador history. But mainly I hope you enjoy your time together. Llewelyn Pritchard has done a remarkable job in bringing you together. He is as shrewd as Holmes and as persistent as Poirot. He could even be a great Canadian! We owe him more than we can say. It's his event and I know it will be successful. All good wishes. Bill Rompkey"

Air Labrador's excellent taxi service is only a hop, skip and a jump from St. Anthony, Newfoundland to Port Hope Simpson, Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada with a view to treasure, 16 July 2002.
19 August 2002 taken from the James Callaghan Trail with Gros Morne Mountain, Newfoundland in the distance.
Extracts from the Author’s Diary 15 July – 28 August 2002…Left coach at Deer Lake for Gros Morne National Park – designated a World Heritage Site. Gros
means big and Morne
Is a Creole word for a small rounded mountain standing alone. I don’t’ understand why the Creole language has been used on the northern peninsula of Newfoundland.
Hitched a kind lift to Berry Hill campground about 3 miles from Rocky Harbour. Too tired to do anything other than set-up camp, finish off sandwiches and get off to sleep for Gros Morne, 806m., very strenuous
hike in the morning. A little rain overnight.
19th August Breakfast of double porridge with maple syrup and tea. Hitched a lift all the way in to the car park where the walk in to the mountain begins. Absolutely amazed to see a plaque naming the path James Callaghan
trail awarded by the Canadian Parliament for his dedication and efforts towards achieving peace and for nations working together worldwide. Will have to confirm whether or not it’s the same James Callaghan, ex-Labour Party PM of Britain.
Information Board, start of The James Callaghan Trail 19 August 2002 advised 6-8 hours for the whole hike but I thought it would be a lot less given the good walking conditions and that I was travelling light. (Water bottle + packet of dehydrated Vegetable Curry.) 19 August 2002 walking in to the foot of Gros Morne National Park World Heritage site, Newfoundland, Canada. The walk in to the foot of the mountain was relatively easy and took about 20 minutes. Met up with a young man, middle twenties, Robin Deval who was a snowboarder from British Columbia, Canada. He looked like one of the people on the videos back home. And he told me he had done some video shoots for companies. They fly you in quite deep for "the extreme
