Talk With Jesus

About this ebook
You can learn to talk, listen to and understand Jesus' voice just as you learned to understand your parents' voice. Wouldn't it be strange if the Creator of everything couldn’t talk? Or couldn’t hear? Thankfully, the Lord is neither deaf nor dumb and wants to talk with us! In fact -as most parents do- He can hardly wait until we are able to chat with Him. Find out how to in Talk With Jesus!
But, maybe you feel you are too old and is too late to learn to talk with the Lord! Find out how Moses started to learn to hear and talk with God when he was 80 years old. Thankfully, you neither have to be 80 years old nor a 'Hebrew' prince of Egypt in exile –as Moses was- for God to talk with you. He loves us and is eager to chat and communicate with each one of us.
Talking with the Lord –what some call prayer- is not some kind of boring dutiful ceremony. It isn’t even something we do only when we need something from Him. If there is someone you love and trust and with whom you like to share your innermost thoughts and longings, your dreams and questions- you will understand what talking with Jesus could be like... and believe me, there is no one in this whole wide universe that is as loving, fun, wise, concerned, knowledgeable and helpful friend as Jesus is.
When He was on earth, He was willing to talk with anyone who wanted to talk with Him... good or bad, rich or poor, friends or foes. When people asked Him questions He answered them. And if they were looking for help, He helped them.
He has not changed since then. In fact, now, He is more wonderfully able to talk with each one of us, personally, intimately and lovingly in the quietness of our hearts and minds.
The Lord knows us, sees us, hears us, talks to us... He wishes we could also talk with Him and hear when He answers us. If you want to do this, He will help you. To do that -for Him- is not that difficult!

Instead, he aims to follow Jesus through His words, which are His Spirit, as Jesus said to His disciples, “... the words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life” (John 6: 63) and as the apostle Peter answered, when Jesus asked His twelve disciples, “Will you also go away? ... Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6: 67 and 68).You may find other articles, blog and stuff in his website, josephtorieauthor-dot-com or by searching online for some of his older publications.

Chapter 1 -- God Can Talk
Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask and you will receive...
(New International Version, John 16:24)
A very talented God
TINA: I have been learning so much about the Bible, and about the New Covenant in the New Testament.
TIM: That’s great!
TINA: ... and could you tell me how does God speak with people? Can He speak so that we hear Him? I mean... does He speak as we do? I have heard people say that the Lord told them this or that… how does God speak to people?
TIM: Ha! God is the Living God! He can do anything He wants to; He is ALL-powerful... if you can speak He surely can!
TINA: Yea… you are right…
TIM: He is not a statue, or a dead god. He is a living, loving, infinitely talented God.
TINA: I see! He could speak if He wants to... He is… GOD!!
The only God GOD knows
TIM: In fact, He is the only God there is, besides Him there is no other! In His own words, …before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me… beside me there is no savior.
(Isaiah 43:10-11) and This says the LORD I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no (other) God… Is there a God beside me? … There is no (other) God; I know not any.
(Isaiah 44: 6-8).
TINA: That’s clear! He is the only God there is, there ever was, or there will ever be!
TIM: God can speak, and He can hear, and see and can do anything He wants or needs to do. He told the prophet Jeremiah, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?
(Jeremiah 32:27)
TINA: I see... He can do anything… including –of course- listening, talking or communicating with whomever He wants!
TIM: Of course! Some people are afraid that God cannot hear them neither answer them… or they think that God cannot see them! He can do all those things, no problem! Now, in the case of Scripture, in most cases, He chose to tell people who believed in Him what to write and those people just wrote what they heard God tell them, specifically the prophets and people that believed what He told them.
TINA: I see!
TIM: These are simple things for God, seeing, listening and talking... He designed and created the universe. In fact, God is so infinitely big and powerful that –when you think about it- it's almost scary!
God is Love and Love communicates!
TINA: …He is the God of the whole universe… everywhere… infinite … and yea, it’s scary!
TIM: However, there is one reason why we shouldn’t be afraid of God although He is infinite.
TINA: What reason?
TIM: Because above all His power, perfection and glory, God is the GOD of LOVE! His love is so perfect and wonderful that He makes sure that everything He does is in love. His love is infinite.
TINA: That’s good to remember… and because He loves us, He speaks to us?
TIM: Yea, of course, because communication is one of the main ways we show love...
TINA: … yea …
TIM: We show love in many ways to others -to parents, spouses, children, lovers, or friends- but one of the main ways of showing love to others is by listening to them, by talking with them, and by spending time with them. We also show our love by explaining things to those we love.
TINA: So. He speaks to us because He loves us.
TIM: Yep.
TINA: How does God speak to us? Do you mean that He just speaks directly, or He needs someone to speak for Him?
TIM: He can speak... It says in the Psalms, …when will you be wise? He that implanted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?
(Psalms 94:8-9). By the same token, if he made our tongues so that we can speak, wouldn’t He be able to speak also?
TINA: Is then one of the problems that we don't listen, rather than He doesn't speak?
TIM: Tina, you are so right! However, it is not always our fault if we don't understand... because we need to learn to listen and learning to listen to God takes some time.
TINA: Do you mean that we can learn to listen to God’s voice?
No remarkable Gifts needed to learn to talk with God
TIM: Yes, of course! Just as a baby learns to listen and to talk with his parents and with others, so we can learn to listen to God’s voice! It takes a baby about one year, give or take a few months, to be able to hold simple conversations with parents and close ones. It is really the same process.
TINA: What do you mean by the same process
?
TIM:
