About this ebook
This book is different from almost every other book on the market about getting pregnant by donor insemination. Most books on donor insemination are written by women, especially lesbians. Even for heterosexual couples suffering from male factor infertility, the male is not going to be as vocal a participant as the female, and if he does write a book, or coauthor, his experiences are as that of his partner’s emotional support and not that of the inseminator. This creates a certain bias in the other books that are available out there. They focus more on the recipient’s emotional needs, how to assuage her fears and anxieties. There is a valid role for this type of book. However, my book looks at the technical aspects of donor insemination, how to get the best results, and succeed in more pregnancies and sooner. For example, the recipient’s fears and anxieties can become a huge obstacle that must be overcome in order to succeed, so the focus in my book is how to overcome the fears and anxieties in order to succeed in getting her pregnant rather than how to help her feel better about them. With more than two dozen successes, I bring a proven understanding of which technical methods achieve results and which do not that few other authors can match. Not only is their perspective different, female author will only have participated in one or at most two pregnancies, they may speak from their experience as the partner and provider of emotional support and may not even have given birth to a single child or even been present for the conception. This book is unlikely to provide much in the way of emotional support, but it is going to provide technical expertise in achieving pregnancy I doubt you will find elsewhere.
Joe Donor
I am an admin on a sperm donor group on Facebook. I am also a donor with dozens of kids. I find women looking to use a donor often ask the same questions. So do men who want to be a donor. I often have to write the answers many times. No doubt some people asking the questions can't always find the answers later. So I have tried to collect together in one location all the answers to the questions people ask most frequently about donation, so that I can easily refer people to the books and they can go back to those books later if they forget. Good luck to all in their journey.

Free Sperm Donor Guide - Joe Donor
Chapter 1 An alternative to sperm banks
Sperm banks could easily cost $1,000.00 per insemination or more. Women living in rural areas may have few or no local banks, requiring travelling long distances. Recipients, who are not sick, may have to undergo physical exams that the millions of other mothers who do not use banks never have to undergo. Why pay so much more for unnecessary poking and prodding, invasion of privacy, and half-dead frozen sperm from a donor you will never meet when there is an alternative, artificial insemination with fresh semen (ten times as effective as frozen) from a private donor, that may cost nothing at all?
New regulatory requirements may even force recipients, to undergo psychological exams to see if they are fit parents
that the millions of other mothers who do not use banks never have to undergo.
Some banks may even refuse to help single or gay women.
1-2: Banks must use less effective frozen sperm, but you do not have to
In the first months of infection, HIV does not show up in tests. Banks freeze semen, quarantine, and retest the donor months later. If he is still negative, they know the semen is HIV-free and make it available for purchase. Private donors, who lack the technology for freezing sperm, cannot quarantine. Banks check for some common genetic diseases, which, due to prohibitive costs, most private donors cannot.
On the other hand, fresh semen from a private donor is ten times as effective as frozen, less expensive, and easier to work with. Banks cannot test for every possible genetic disease, and since recipients never meet a bank donor, they cannot evaluate for themselves what he is really like. Recipients will actually meet private AI donors when they receive their fresh sample. They can talk directly and learn about medical history banks may not collect, and can keep in touch should future problems with donor or child come to light.
Does the minimal risk really justify the cost?
Private donors may seem quite risky compared to banks. However, the vast majority of women conceive outside of sperm banks without a problem, even though the father does not undergo freezing and six-month quarantine of his sperm. Recipients should certainly use a bank if they cannot tolerate this minimal risk that is also faced by millions of other women who conceive outside of sperm banks with no problems. However, if they do not think the minimal risk warrants the significant increase in cost, then it is good to know that fresh semen from a private donor, much more effective than frozen and usually free, is a valid
