About this ebook

Songs and poetry are forms of expressing and communicating the emotions we are truly feeling. The book of Psalm in the Bible is no exception. Full of hope and dreams, disappointments and anger, this book holds the words of people who have felt all of life’s raw emotions. Because of this, the book of Psalm has often been a place for people throughout the ages to turn in the midst of the difficulties of life.

Kristi Burchfiel continues The Daily Devotional Series with her signature devotional style. These books are designed to provide each day with a quick and simple devotion that can be read in less than 5 minutes. The devotionals focus on one truth from the Bible that a person can take with them, think about, and apply all day long. Each devotional includes the verse from the Bible, a truth from that verse, and a response to pray back to God.

The last of three volumes over the book of Psalm, The Daily Devotional Series: Psalm, volume 3, includes an introduction to the series, a brief background over the book of Psalm as a whole, a more detailed background over the section of Psalm that is covered in this volume. This book picks up where The Daily Devotional Series: Psalm, volume 2 left off and finishes the devotionals through Psalm. Enjoy taking one devotional a day, working your way through the book of Psalm as part of the Daily Devotional Series and enjoy God's truths from His word.

I never thought that the difficult times I found myself stuck in would result in a Bible study. As a young pastor’s wife, I found myself digging deep into the book of Ecclesiastes looking for answers to the questions that overwhelmed my life: How do I prioritize my life? What things should I focus on? What do I do when things don’t work out my way? How do I avoid having regrets later on? Those questions and the answers I learned paved the way for my first book Without Regrets. Since then, I’ve experienced the amazing truths that God has for us in the Bible and I am passionate about sharing those truths with others in a way that they can apply those truths to their lives. I write Christian Daily Devotionals, including a devotional for the day, as well as Bible studies and I love to share and to pray for people through my Facebook Page and on Twitter. I also enjoy the opportunity to speak and encourage others whether it’s a small study group or a large women’s conference. I grew up in Valley Center, Kansas and received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. I’ve been married to my husband D Burchfiel for 16 years and we enjoy our 2 children, Rebekah and Andrew. We currently make our home in Wichita, Kansas where D is the pastor of Southwest Baptist Church.

The Daily Devotional Series - Kristi Burchfiel

    Introduction

What is The Daily Devotional Series?

The Daily Devotional Series was born from my own personal devotions. As part of my daily time with God, I wanted to be able to read and study a whole book of the Bible at a time. However, I also wanted to be able to focus on one specific thought or idea that I could hold on to for the whole day.

Ultimately, I decided to take one book of the Bible at a time, read through one chapter a day, and then focus on a truth from one verse in that chapter. This allows me to balance the consistency of going through a whole book at a time with the specific focus I need for that particular day.

How do I use The Daily Devotional Series?

I encourage you to take the time to read through the entire chapter for each day so you can get the full story and background information. However, realize that is not necessary to be able to follow and learn from the devotionals. Each devotional focuses on one verse, the truth in that verse, and a response to pray back to God.

May you be blessed as you study God’s word and apply it to your life daily.

    Background – Psalm

For centuries, people have used songs as a way to share their feelings and emotions. Ideas that were difficult to express in words alone could be brought to life and given deeper meaning when put to music.

The book of Psalm is, in essence, the hymnbook of the Bible. The songs here are written by multiple authors over a span of almost 1000 years. These were later compiled into five books which make up Psalm. The songs address historical issues, personal struggles, emotional triumphs, betrayals, and so many more issues. Through them all, God’s glory is evident and praised. These songs give examples from people who are feeling some
