Jennifer stood behind the shopping cart at a total loss as to where to go first. They didn’t have anything to eat at home. At least not anything she felt like. But what did she want? What her boyfriend might want, though, was her primary concern. Barry was a finicky eater.

Oh, is that Barry? she said, hearing her phone buzzing in that way that told her it was a text message.
