My Name is Rafael Erasmo Loza. I began writing this book earlier this year at age 12 and ended writing this book at age 12. I got the idea for the book from some old drawings I made a while ago and when I saw the drawings the idea hit me. I love to write and I’d say that it’s my best subject in school. I have a very supportive family that helped me through while I was writing this book and they were the people that pushed me to getting it published. I plan for many sequels to this book and plan to add more suspense to the series. I also plan to start a carrier in not just writing but acting and performing as well. Lastly, I plan to write more books that is not in this series. I hope you enjoy my book, The Jayse Greyhound Series: The Survivors.

Chapter 1
The Long Beginning
He sprinted through the forest panting, catching every last breath he had. He glanced back and saw the beady eyes of the creature. Almost to town... He thought to himself. Beyond the trees he saw the town of Shi Mokuzai, where his wife and kids were waiting for him. It's my duty to guard the border of this town... and I was a fool...I left my post and here I am now... taking my last breath... If I can just- His thoughts were cut off as the beast caught him and began to feed. I awaken to a scream and peer through the ancient wood window and frown upon the town of Shi Mokuzai. A guard lies of the ground, deceased and half eaten. It has been 3 years since I've lived in the ruins of our Great
kingdom. I looked around the old orphanage as I see the Headmaster and her two children crying. Ms.Ruthe? What's wrong?
I questioned.
Oh Jay! Oh! Oh young Jayse! You see... My husband.... he was killed by a Were Wolf while he was guarding! Oh how much we miss him!!!
She sobbed. I looked over to their oldest son Garett who was holding onto a piece of technology from around 2012. I whispered, Oh No...
I walked towards City Hall where possibly my only family
was. I Stroll into city hall as my Uncle
yelled, We need to do something about the Waru attacking the outside of the City! Just today 3 citizens were killed by a Waru soldier! I think we should teach all citizens over the age of 16 to fight against the Waru!
Why can't you teach me?
I asked. Why Jayse! Such a surprise! Well... um... I'd love to teach you to fight but you don't even have a sword! Also, why'd you even want to fight?
Uncle Dev protested. I want to finish what my father started.
I commented. He frowned in astonishment, And what did he start?
The war
I replied. Jay your Father died honorably I don't think you need to-
He was murdered, driven insane by a spirit. That death was neither honor nor my mother's. She was murdered by a Waru soldier.
I interrupted.
He glared at me and began to yell, No I don't even THINK you know ANYTHING about how the war started! You probably don't even know any of the history of our country!
The Jun Kingdom... One of the greatest kingdom's that fell because of their stupidity. Then rebuilt by my father who was soon forgotten leaving him alone to be murdered by a spirit. Oh! Wait! Did I forget to mention how we fell once again AFTER everyone forgot my father? Funny huh? I pointed out.
Now the Jun Kingdom was a great kingdom that ruled 4 planets! Earth, Mars, Groth and Gransol! We were taken by surprise by The Waru Tribe an evil kingdom that Hated us the day they layed their eyes on us and they took 3 of our planets leaving us alone. Soon after that they took Groth! But, a young man by the name of Zane helped fight back and save Groth. Soon after that the Waru strike back leaving us alone again fighting to keep our planet!"
Dev made a fist and starred me dead in the eyes as I smirked and replied, Funny thing, There's a couple flaws in your history. First of all my father mysteriously got Groth back by himself. One man vs. a whole kingdom. Second of all, you let you guard down BOTH times the Waru attacked. The second time you would have kept your guard up because my father would be protecting still. And Lastly, Aren't we living in the ruins of the capital of this so called great kingdom? The ruins that fell twice?
He screamed, LEAVE NOW! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE! AND I WILL TALK TO YOU LATER!
It began to rain as I walked back to the Orphanage. I heard more screams in the distance.
I got to the orphanage and opened the old metal door. Ms.Ruthe was at the dinner table crying while all the children were playing... except for Ms.Ruthe's oldest son who was dissecting that piece of technology he had earlier. I sat in my room and looked down to my hands. Then looked at myself in the mirror. Same old me, same short Black hair, same black hole eyes, same depressed face and same arrow on my right arm. The arrow was very simple; it was a black arrow near my hand. I was born with the arrow and I never knew why it was there.
Ms.Ruthe's oldest son tip toed into the room and whispered,Hello...
Hi
I responded. He had light brown hair and wise eyes the color of brown. You're Jayse correct?
He questioned. Yes but I prefer to be called Jay.... you're Garett right?
I asked. Yes
he responded. What was that small metal thing you were playing with?
I asked. Apparently it's called an i pod. You see I love looking at the technology invented back in the 2000's. This one thing plays music. The music kids my age listened to back then liked strange music... but very catchy.
The i pod began to play some music and I laughed, That's cool.
He left the room and Uncle Dev entered. I'm screwed I thought. He sat down and whispered, I'm sorry... for what happened... I'm very upset with our kingdom as well...
He pulled out a paper and passed it to me, "I can't teach you to fight because I'm just the man who found you in the wood. But there was a mysterious Dagger and sword you father used to get Groth back. Apparently your father gave it to his best friend Wendel so he could keep it safe. The only problem is, Wendel is dead. But I know where Wendel kept the dagger and sword. Your father learned how to fight from
