    CHAPTER ONE

    It is about 7pm. I’ve just finished a light meal of rice and stew and some apples. I always take light meals for super just to feel free in bed and avoid constipation.

    I was perusing a well loved novel by Chinua Achebe A Man of the People, when I heard a knock on the door. But I was at the climax of my reading and I would not halt it unless I came to the end of the page. I knew from the knock that it must be my bosom friend; Dave, a very humorous man in his late twenties. He was some years older than me and always had sound advice for a willing ear. He was a very enterprising guy; we called him legal mind. Before I could finish the page, I could hear Dave making jokes about my lovesick state oh! Boy he said laughing. It looks like this love issue with Kate has turned your head around. C’mon dude, will you open this door? I will pee in my pants".

    I reluctantly dropped the book and dragged myself to the door.

    Hey, you’ve not been in love before though you are older than me try it out yourself and you’ll see that I’m strong enough I said to him, smiling. No matter what, we were still the best of friends.

    I beg your pardon, please spare me my friend. You brought this fire to your mouth. I told you it will burn.

    Immediately I opened the door the guy ran passed me like lightening straight to the toilet. I just smiled and went back to my novel. I barely reached the last line of the page when my phone rang. I was not in the mood to talk to any body so I did not even bother to look who the caller was. The damn thing continued ringing. I had to pick the call. What a
