About this ebook
In "Rhymes or Porcupines", a homeowner battles his possessed house and a shipwrecked crew tries desperately to survive. A couple has extreme anxiety at an Italian restaurant. A newlywed contemplates life before his child’s birth. A monkey terrorizes a family member and aliens hide behind a planet in our solar system!
Between spies getting duped in London and zombies on the streets of the big city anything is possible in the world of Peter A. Hirsch.
"Rhymes or Porcupines" is the title of one of the short stories depicting the fantastic sights, sounds and smells of the carnival through the eyes of children.
The author heard verses for years like "forty-nine days after running aground" or "a horse drawn carriage on a cobblestone street", or
"lying on a lawn so green, I fell asleep and had a dream." This continued for years and he transcribed and expounded upon them until he had composed over one hundred forty five rhyming stories and poems. He added illustrations and photographs to enhance the work and included fifty-five of the best.
Hirsch uses his sense of humor, insight, sentimentality and adventurous side, in an easy reading format filled with unusual escapades, silly yarns, gushy verses and soul searching questions entertaining the reader from start to finish.

Introduction
Most of my life I have been an artist and have created an abundance of paintings and drawings in a variety of mediums. Many years ago, I started to write; dabbling with a short story or two and then I published a couple of illustrated books.
One thing you can count on in this strange adventure called life…sometime during the ride the hand of fate will move in strange ways.
This is a true story! I never wrote a single line of poetry or rhymes before 1997. My mother was a published science fiction writer and a poet. About eight months after she passed away, I started to hear little verses in my head like forty-nine days after running aground
, or concealing her emotions behind a cold blank stare
or asparagus soup with fruit loops.
This continued for many years and I transcribed and expounded upon them until I had written over one hundred forty five short rhyming stories and poems. I added illustrations and photographs to enhance the work and included fifty-five of the best poems in this book." It is with joyful pleasure I present, RHYMES or PORCUPINES! Please enjoy.

TALL TALES
SHIPWRECKED
Forty-nine days after running aground ~~~
We're still hanging in there on jagged ground.
This asteroid's empty and void of all sound.
We're hoping we've landed, where we can be found.
