Still unable to have time to find a way home for all of them, he must tend to first things first, first of all being feeding that fussy baby owl. Once they all put their thoughts and efforts into the project, they learn very quickly how to handle the situation, but the work is hard and the days are long for these friends, still learning to work together.

Chapter I
I had kept very busy for days, waiting for my Fauna friends to return. I thought often of their lives and the story they were telling me. While so very, very strange, it was an enchanting group of small creatures, and I had come to feel I knew every one of them.
Looking out my window, I decided to go out to my garden and do some serious weed pulling. It had been neglected for a bit, and I do so like to see it neat. I got my gloves and hat and went out, and then had to go back for my knee pads. I am becoming elderly, you know, and my knees hurt when I crawl on the rocks. Nonetheless, I settled down to business and was busily cleaning the path. Without notice, a great buzzing sounded in my right ear, and a bee whizzed around my head. I was so startled I threw the grass in my hands straight up into the air, and in that instant, knew that Harvey was back. Looking around, I spied Bennie's grandma, peeking through the grass to make sure the neighbor's black cat was nowhere in sight. I smiled a greeting at her and she waved. Harvey lit on the handle of my digger and danced a little jig. He was glad to see me, too.
Shall we get started? Do you have to work now? Won't weeds wait?
asked Harvey.
Grandma and I agreed, and I gathered things up and put Grandma in my pocket and we went straight to my chair, where Harvey, as swiftly as he could, launched into his part of the tale telling. I had to be quick to record every word. Here is what he
