Jewelry Jinx
Tiffany Hedges sighed as she surveyed the wreckage of the apartment. It looked like the aftermath of a tornado. The fine leather couch and matching recliner thrown against one wall, with shattered remains of a display case, and broken porcelain dolls underneath them. The Persian rug lay in shreds. Heavy linen drapes hung in strips from the silver pole that dangled from the left bracket. Even the massive mahogany desk stood on end with the drawers all hanging askew, their contents scattered. The other rooms looked much the same.
So any ideas?
Tiffany asked the client who stood with her head bowed, staring at the wreckage on the floor.
If I had any ideas, I’d have called security or the police,
Carmine Esperanza snarled. At nearly six foot tall she towered over Tiffany’s five foot frame. She was too slender to be really threatening but she tried.
Tiffany and the firm she worked for, E.S. Peters Investigations, did jobs for Carmine and the covert magical group she worked for on a regular basis. They were called in when Carmine’s group was over worked, or the case got too weird.
So have you checked the security tapes?
