Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose go to detective camp where they find a real life mystery and take the steps to solve it.I liked these kids. They use their brains. There are red herrings to throw us off but the kids are never thrown off. They get their person. I never did figure out the puzzle. I would read more of this series.

When Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose sing up for detective camp they expect to learn more about their favorite thing to do. Instead, they are caught up in the mystery of missing earrings -- and all the campers and counselors are the suspects! Can these three solve the crime before detective camp is shut down for good?There were some great clues for early readers to follow, but the mystery was hidden well enough that it wasn't too easy to solve. I also liked how it was a bit meatier than the other A to Z mysteries.

I haven't read a mystery in a while and it was fun. I really liked the letters hidden in the illustrations to reveal a secret message. There were a couple multicultural characters but they did not play key roles but I think they could have. It was a fun read.This book and its series could be used in a library program about mysteries. A map with clues could be hidden in the library, just as it is in the book, with each participant be given a clue and bring the pieces of the map together.
