    Chad Javon Johnson was born on January 9, 1978. He is formerly known as Chad Ochocinco (2008–2012), a name which he has alternated with Chad Johnson over the years. As of today, at this moment, his name is still Chad Johnson.

    Johnson is a former wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL), who is currently a free agent, unlikely to ever play again in the NFL. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft, and had a great career there for many years. Since his career in Cincinnati ended, Johnson has played for the New England Patriots. He was invited to the Miami Dolphins training camp in 2012 but was involved in a domestic altercation and was subsequently released by the team. The moment was captured for the world to see on an episode of HBO's Hard Knocks. For a run of several years during his time with the Bengals, he was considered among the very best in the game at his position, and one of the most dynamic players in the entire world.

    Johnson has been selected to the Pro Bowl six times and named an All-Pro three times.

    In April 2011, CNBC listed the then-Ochocinco as #1 on the list of Most Influential Athletes in Social Media, which is a testament to his ability to successfully use social media and self-promotion to further his earning power and popularity.
