Reviews for The Snowball Effect
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As an example of good communication, this book excels! And as such, it is a good advertisement for its content. The material is arranged in very short chapters – one idea at a time that you can absorb and think about before going on to the next. Each chapter presents one situation or problem, suggests ways of addressing it, gives an example or two, and summarises what you have just learned.Bounds is particularly rich in his use of metaphor to help you remember things or get you motivated. The title itself is a good example – making change is like building a snowball; you start with the core idea, then you roll it along adding layers as you go. If you try to make a lot of changes at once then they may not stick.. In the introduction, Bounds suggests that you can either read it cover to cover, or you can dip into particular chapters to help you deal with an upcoming communication situation. In practice, I did a mixture of both, and found it both thought-provoking and helpful.
