About this audiobook

A fascinating, engaging, and unique memoir, this story covers John Coleman's life after his cover is blown as a CIA agent in Asia in the late 1950s, leading him to embark on a vigorous pursuit of spiritual truth. In his travels through India, Burma, Japan, and Thailand, he encounters luminous teachers such as Krishnamurti, Maharishi, and D.T. Suzuki. Ultimately, his search for peace of mind and liberating insights comes to fruition in Yangon-also known as Rangoon-under the tutelage of the great Vipassana meditation master Sayagyi U Ba Khin.

What an unexpected gem and delight of a book. Beautifully written in eloquent terms it speaks about the journey of a person on finding the most elusive quest: a quiet mind. It is a timeless piece of work that translates and resonates around the entire world.

To actually derive benefit from this book, one would probably need to have meditated for at least a couple of months, so they can relate their experiences to what the author describes. With that said, I would still recommend this to anyone; it is a really entertaining and interesting book, whether or not you actually derive benefit from it.

It is one of the best books on the subject I have read so far. I am on the Meditation journey for years and still looking for a true teacher.

Very interesting this book. It reminds me of what we were thought in Africa during our childhood. Of course I couldn’t understand back then. I really like de 4 last chapters of this book.

Outstanding in depth and breadth. Well worth the read for a tour unlike any other in the available writings I've encountered on quieting of the mind.

The content is interesting, but the narrator has a terrible voice and his style of reading is close to panicky,,, what a shame.

A lovely story of a seeker and finder. Provides a taste of a variety of spiritual and other meditative traditions, both Eastern and Western. Told in a friendly manner.
