The first is to distinguish an entity in which a set of actors interact (e.g. a card school) from a set of interactions in which actors participate (e.g. a game of poker). The second is to distinguish "holism" (zooming out or zooming in to consider the effects produced by interacting things) and "wholeism" (considering every conceivable aspect and part of a thing, which is impossible).
