I saw the b/w movie as a child, and it moved me tremendously. I remember crying and crying and crying.
This book was less touching. I guess it is written for children, in a very simple, plain language. But it gives an interesring account of this man's history, and it is rather a "feel good" book

The main character of this book is "Elephant Man." He looks like elephant of animal, his head and leg are very learge. He has no family and no friends. One day, he met Dr.Treves and he knows his hand is very beautiful. Then, the docter helps him and his life started changing.I was moved this book. Before, I watched a woman like this man. She also has no friend and family. I think the most important thing is that we have to help like such a person. They are always suffering. I have to think about not only myself but also people suffering from illness.

In England, a "creature" was born with its ugly body and face that made its mother dislike "IT" very much. After seeing off her last face, IT had a very hard time with no friend. But, its life changed completely to get Dr Treves's card. "He" got many friends, and gradually came to find himself in his male friends, not in an ugly creature. I can't forget his beautiful left hand. i think it reflects his character exactly. His pure heart expressed in only one part of the ugly body may be given as a present from God instead of his physical beauty. I don't know he was really happy, but I'm sure that he had the true happiness as a "human".
