Finally, a soulful connection with a generous and sensitive musician allows her to free herself from the pathologies that defined her and recognize her true self. With gallows humor and brutal honesty, Carrière has written a unique and mesmerizing narrative of emergence and, at last, cure.

The story would almost be unbelievable if Alice weren’t such an incredible writer. It was at times sad, shocking, and unfathomable but ultimately uplifting. It is not a good look for psychiatrists and prescribers or even the rehab industry. That part was quite eye opening!
