- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm so glad that I ordered this book. There are some really nice exercises in there. I'm a therapist and plan to use some of these interventions in treatment.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Written to be a graduate level text but very readable just to learn more about the topic outside of a formal university course. Covers the subject topic thoroughly with clear, understandable figures and tables. Recommend for any serious student of addiction science.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The author's writing style is clear and her expertise and compassion are both heartfelt and sagacious.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love that each chapter ends with recovery voices from different people in recovery. It helped me see how my addictions are based in what I've lived through and it's gotten me to take action to move forward rather than giving up. It created hope, which I felt I had lost a long time ago. I am so grateful.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is one of the best addiction books I've ever read. It has a wealth of things to try on a daily basis.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved the book.. It was a textbook for a Trauma Informed Care class I just finished. However, I had to order it AND pay for it twice. It is “on its way but running late” so I can’t seem to cancel it and get my money back.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Describes addiction beyond substance use and moreso as a coping mechanism / trauma response. Fantastic book! I've recommended to several clients
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This author did a really nice job with this book. I really like her Seeking Safety book too. I provide CBT to persons with dual diagnoses of addiction and mental health. Many of them have some type of past traumatic experience(s). Nicely done. If you are a clinician and need some new ways to present the psychoeducation component with some action plans, give this a try.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I ordered this book in hopes of understanding addiction. I am a Deputy and I work with girls everyday that have serious addiction problems. I was completely amazed that for someone (me) that doesn't read at all, I couldn't put this book down.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I use this workbook for groups at an in patient detox hospital. Makes for great discussion and I love being able to use the exercises
