About this audiobook
Addiction and abuse are two things. A person may use a substance such as alcohol, but never be addicted to it. Tolerance and physical dependence are the two determining factors for addiction. Any addiction is highly destructive, both to the person who has the addiction and to those around them. It is difficult to overcome addictions to drugs. However, once the addict actually sees and acknowledges a problem, there are a number of treatment options for both alcohol and drug addiction.
Irrespective of what you can hear or read, alcohol and illegal drugs are addictive. In fact, the younger a person begins to experiment with these things, the more likely they are to become addicted to them later in life. Many times, addictions affect a number of family members. While it's dangerous to try any drugs or alcohol, it's a lot more of a gamble if you know you have close family members who have fought the same thing. What you're supposed to lose in this bet is your personality, your future, maybe even your life.
This book will discuss What Drug Addiction Is, Signs and Symptoms, Change Your Mindset, Motivation To Stay Drug-Free, and keep clear of negative influences.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Bought for a loved one trying to beat addiction after thumbing through it on kindle..it seemed like it would be worth a shot for sure. They said so far the lessons are helpful and has things they didn't know about yet and stuff that isn't generally taught in rehabs, so fingers crossed it gives them the tools they need to get off this crap and most importantly, stay off it. I'm feeling optimistic

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a great workbook. It so nicely combines some ACT, DBT, CBT, and basic psychoeducation. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it also is incredibly helpful and informative. I have even used it with clients who struggle with conditions other than addiction. I highly recommend this book to any clinician or individual!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This workbook is a favorite, we both love all the educational info it gives. I believe the education of addiction and why people become addicted, etc is what makes this book stand out from the rest. After reading the first couple chapters, we have a lot more understanding of what we’ve been through and how to handle things that may come our way in the future.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lots of great information! My husband recently completed inpatient rehab, we do a lot of studying and reading together since he’s been home. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As a neurobiologist I wanted to know about the state of knowledge about the neurobiology of drug addiction. This book was a great way to get the overall view I needed from the clinical to experimental and theoretical, However, the authors have a tendency to over-emphasize their own work and theories while insufficiently presenting and the many alternative theoretical and experimental alternatives.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Written to be a graduate level text but very readable just to learn more about the topic outside of a formal university course. Covers the subject topic thoroughly with clear, understandable figures and tables. Recommend for any serious student of addiction science.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As an addiction counselor for 14 years, I have purchased dozens of books to help plan and facilitate group and individual sessions. Most have been disappointing. Not so with this one! Have looked through entire volume and have already got several weeks planned using the worksheets and ideas from this awesome book. So happy I bought it.
