About this audiobook

The second exciting book in the bestselling 1797 Club series by USA TODAY Bestselling Author Jess Michaels.

Simon Greene, Duke of Crestwood has been obsessed with Margaret Rylon for years. There is only one thing standing between them: her fiancé, who also happens to be his best friend. He is desperate not to destroy everything in his life by giving in to his desires, but when Meg and Simon are trapped alone together overnight during a storm, the resulting scandal not only breaks Meg’s existing engagement, but forces Simon to offer for her instead.

Margaret is sorry to have hurt her family and her fiancé, but all she’s ever wanted was Simon. Her determination to make a happy life with him is only heightened when they submit to passions that have long dwelled beneath the surface. But while Simon may give her his body, he withholds his heart out of guilt and fear of what a connection to her may expose.

And if he doesn’t learn to fight for her soon, they both may lose a chance at happiness.

Oh! I anticipated this book from the prequel and was excited to read Meg's story as she was an important part of Emma's happy ending. I struggled with Simon who wanted to keep the peace to the extent that it was quite cowardly. I don't think Meg was much better as opening up to a brother who loves you so much should have happened sometime during the 7 year long engagement. Still, the fact that I felt this strongly about both Simon and Meg as well as note they had similar traits and characters means Jess Micheal did a great job. Graham was more humiliated than hurt as he could have noted Meg's unhappiness or at least reluctance sooner than he did. Nice story

It was decent. There wasn’t quite enough story but I really liked the first one (a bit too much love at first sight) and I liked that this one was a sort of I’ve-loved-you-forever one. A little too much repetitive in the head of the tortured hero. Still was okay listen and I will continue with the series. I probably wouldn’t skip it

This book was much better than the first in this series. The characters were interesting and the narration enjoyable. A convincing romance.

Not as good as the last one a lot of sex but I thought rather weak male character.

I didn't think this book would EVER end! I'm not sure why I listened to it all except I was hoping Simon would depart the Self Pity train to Woe Is Me town. My favorite part of the story was the words "The End." The first book, The Daring Duke, was soooo much better.

Not that I have an opinion, you understand...

The recording quality of the book wasn’t great. Had a bunch of weird cuts and skipped a lot
