About this audiobook

Princess Gisela of Steinland was born without color. Albino. To add to this curse, her betrothal to Prince Jerrik of Kronga ends in his death and starts a ten year war her father is determined to win, even if it means bringing her out of hiding to do it. Now the savage Krongon war commander, Bloodless Kristoff, seeks the hearts of the entire royal family, especially Gisela's.

Desperate, her father agrees to another alliance that involves her marrying an old brute of a king. Unwilling to be the sacrificial lamb, Gisela goes on the run. Thrown into the center of a battle between three kingdoms, she finds herself fighting for her life and the right to be truly loved.

Can the girl who started the war find a way to end it?

Author

Rebecca Belliston

Rebecca Belliston wants to be Rachmaninoff or Beethoven. Or Jane Austen. Preferably, she would be all three, minus the whole living-without-technology-and-indoor-plumbing thing. Instead she has to content herself with writing books and music of her own.  As an author, she has written five novels, clean romances with heart-pounding suspense. Her latest trilogy, Citizens of Logan Pond, is a dystopian romance that In D'tale Magazine called “a piece that should be required reading for young and old alike.” As a composer, she has written and arranged over thirty religious and classical-style pieces, including bestseller “For There’s a Savior Born.”   When she’s not writing books or music, she’s usually chasing her five kids, playing tennis, or curling up with a good book. She and her husband live in the gorgeous state of Michigan.

This was a really interesting read with quite a few twists. Though it starts a bit slow after the first scene, it does pick up pace. I love how the princess learned to stand up for herself and learned from past mistakes.
The thing about fear, though. While I understand the point she tried to make about how it could influence a person positively, I do not believe it is the best motivation.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read. I recommend it!
