About this audiobook

Handsome, successful husband. Adorable daughter. Chairwoman of the PTA. Security for her ailing mom. Jane’s got everything life has to offer. Including the lie that could destroy it all.

See Jane smile. Thirty-nine-year-old Jane Osborne appears to the world like she has a charmed life. Her daughter attends private school. Jane chairs the PTA. Even her marriage to Dan, the handsome, prominent surgeon, is blissfully happy. Her universe is stable, and her future is fixed…just like that smile. Because it’s all a ruse. Unbeknownst to anyone, after eighteen years of marriage, Dan’s revealed that he’s been living a double life and is in love with a man. But for the sake of his career, Jane must keep that secret, secret.

See Jane lie. With their livelihood on the line, Jane agrees to maintain appearances. But soon the weight of Dan’s deception and the pain of his betrayal get the better of her. Something’s got to give.

See Jane snap. Quite publicly. And a bit unlawfully. With brutal honesty, Jane must confront her choices head-on and determine—for herself—if the facade of stability she’s been protecting is worth the price of her own sanity and happiness.

Jane Osborne is desperately trying to preserve the facade of her ‘perfect life’, even though her handsome, successful husband of 18 years is sleeping with someone else (and not for the first time), her twelve year old daughter is getting in trouble at school, and, after a supermarket car park incident involving oranges and a purloined ecstasy tablet, she’s been ordered to attend a First Offender’s Group to avoid jail.In this witty contemporary novel, Bethany Crandall explores the struggle of a wife and mother to keep it altogether while everything is falling apart. Jane is under tremendous pressure to protect her husband’s career, her daughter’s innocence, and her mother’s care needs, and expected to suppress her feelings of betrayal, guilt and anger. Though the specifics of Jane’s trials may not be familiar, it’s very easy to empathise with the strain she is under, and honestly who hasn’t been tempted to throw something at a person who insists on going through a 12 item only check out with twice as many groceries!Jane’s parking lot meltdown, and the consequences of mistaking an ecstasy pill for Zoloft, had me laughing out loud. Though the event, and subsequent punishment, seems like it can only make everything worse, it serves as a catalyst for Jane to confront her situation, and figure out how to move forward. I really liked the friendships Jane developed in the group, and the unexpected romantic connection with her arresting officer. I was absolutely always on Jane’s side, and felt Crandall’s development of her character was thoughtful and realistic. See Jane Snap is often funny but also provides some astute observations about the difficult balance many women face between the needs of others and themselves. This is a light, entertaining and engaging read.

This is a solid 3.5 for me. Dan has a big secret he’s been keeping. Jane is forced to keep this secret, which ultimately forces her to Snap, in a humorous way. Avery is a total victim in this secret, but senses there is an issue, acting out as teenagers can. While the premise is good, I found most of the characters annoying and the writing left me wanting more. While there were a few laugh out loud moments, this book delved into some deeper topics before being wrapped up in a neat bow. An enjoyable beach read, or lighter diversion read. I would give this author another try. Thanks to Ms. Crandall, Montlake Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.

I have to be honest. This book...well particularly Jane annoyed me so much. It has been a while since I came across a character that I did not like. Right from the beginning; Jane had this really sour attitude. It turned me off and made me mad at her. So much that I could only read two chapters at a time. I could not understand Jane's hate for her husband and his secret. Yes, I get that it would really shake my world upside down and I would be upset but not to the point like Jane that I would self harm myself or commit a crime. The story did get better to the point that I could tolerate Jane and read more than two chapters at a time. Overall, my feelings towards this book are "just ok".

Good grief, this was one of the funniest and heart-rending books I have read lately. This was also a speedy read, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great beach read. Oddly this plotline(partner lying about sexuality) is becoming a popular one for me lately. This is the second book in a row that uses this idea.I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something different. Something that will make you wet your pants ( and I literally did so-but then again, at my age, that is to be expected!LOL!) laughing at parts and then find yourself crying during other parts. The ending is just slightly vague, but you can tell that there is at least a hopeful happy ever after! There is some swearing, and that could be expected, one semi0-sexual scene but nothing too explicit.*ARC supplied by the publisher, the author, and NetGalley.
