About this audiobook

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—for everyone except Starr Lewis.

As if going home for the holidays jobless and single wasn’t bad enough, she’s dragged into a holiday season full of activities leading up to her sister’s uberromantic Christmas Eve wedding—to Starr’s ex-boyfriend. But when her brother’s best friend, Waylon
Emmerson, attends their family Thanksgiving, she starts to wonder if maybe coming home for Christmas isn’t so bad after all.

As Starr finds the perfect distraction in helping Waylon make over his late mother’s Christmas shop, the most wonderful time of the year works its magic and the spark between them grows. But with the holidays fast approaching, Starr must decide what she
wants out of life after the gifts are unwrapped and the ornaments are put away—to go back to New York City or to open her heart to a love that will last beyond Christmas Day?

It's a cute Christmas read that shots and sweat. There's some spice and sweet moments between Starr and Waylon. He's Starr's brother's best friend with a 6-year age gap. Waylon is a very likeable character and becomes protective of Starr when she has to deal with interactions between her sister and ex-boyfriend. There wasn't much depth to the story of characters since it was so short but it had the cosy Christmas vibes to it that made it fitting for the season.

I didn't expect it to be so heavy on religion. I'm not opposed to reading about religion and when it's done well it flows easily in the book and with the characters. But this seemed to be intense when it was nearing the end of the book. It wasn't as involved at the start and the emphasis just suddenly popped up.

This holiday romance short was a great introduction to Ms. Shiloh’s literary work. Thereafter, I was equally delighted Starr & Waylon are Believers. In spite of insecurities, grief and a disingenuous ex-boyfriend and subsequent breakup, both Starr and Waylon are both Believers/seek and trust God’s wisdom for direction in their lives as individuals and a couple. Thereafter, I was disappointed with Angel’s character! Her disregard for Starr’s (anyone’s) feelings and no compunction to apologize was heartless & selfishness. Honestly, I admit, I was secretly pleased Angel discovered Ashton had no regard for her feelings, he was exploiting her, placating a relationship & hew was a fraud. Angel deserved to be sad & embarrassed‼️Conversely, all things worked together for Starr & Waylon’s good! …and a wonderful holiday season together ?‼️

Toni Shiloh adds depth to a cute holiday romance by having characters authentically walk out their Christian faith through job searches, family drama, and decisions about the future. This is much richer than the average Hallmark-ish Christmas love story.

This was a cute, short, and easy to follow along read. The narrator was perfect. I don’t know if it’s my hormones, but I cried at the end. Overall, a perfect holiday read.

Such a cozy read for the Christmas season, although it was short I felt like I got a good sense of characters and it had good character development.

Cute Holiday story, it did feel like a Hallmark small town movie. I enjoyed this story and the siblings they made laughed. I couldn’t believe the older sister was that insensitive but it all worked out in the end.
