About this audiobook
Set in the world of the New York Times–bestselling Winner’s Trilogy, Marie Rutkoski's The Midnight Lie is an epic LGBTQ romantic fantasy about learning to free ourselves from the lies others tell us—and the lies we tell ourselves.
Where Nirrim lives, crime abounds, a harsh tribunal rules, and society’s pleasures are reserved for the High Kith. Life in the Ward is grim and punishing. People of her low status are forbidden from sampling sweets or wearing colors. You either follow the rules, or pay a tithe and suffer the consequences.
Nirrim keeps her head down, and a dangerous secret close to her chest.
But then she encounters Sid, a rakish traveler from far away, who whispers rumors that the High Kith possess magic. Sid tempts Nirrim to seek that magic for herself. But to do that, Nirrim must surrender her old life. She must place her trust in this sly stranger who asks, above all, not to be trusted.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Started promising with beautiful writing but the slow plot profession and uncomfortable relationship dynamic very heavily weighted towards one character put me off. The mysteries it revealed were also kind of unsatisfying.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This sapphic YA fantasy about gods and magic and class was very entertaining! I really enjoyed getting to know the main character and watch her struggle and ultimately go against the abusive people in her life.
That ending was great and I can't wait to get into the sequel because omg - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This story felt like a badly organized trip where you still have fun but also is stressful and concerning.
I have issues with the mc, particularly with her relationship with Raven and how she always defended her.
I loved Sid but her identity was a little too obvious.
The end had me shook ngl (made me thing about the Dark Rise). - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This did not begin or end like I expected. I LOVED it tho. It was an EXCELLENT story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5When Sid took her out of the house from raven who she consider her like her mother ,she new she had a gift.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely breath-taking! Rutkoski does it again! If you love the Winner’s Curse trilogy, you won’t be disappointed here.
