Tracy Brower
Dr. Tracy Brower is a PhD sociologist studying happiness, work-life fulfillment and the future of work. She is the author of The Secrets to Happiness at Work (to be re-released in paperback May 2024) as well as Bring Work to Life. She is the vice president of workplace insights for Steelcase and a senior contributor to Forbes as well as Fast Company and Newsweek. Tracy’s work has been translated into 22 languages and she is an award-winning speaker with over 25 years of experience working with global clients to achieve business results. Tracy is on the board of the United Way of Greater Ottawa County. In addition, she is a coach and advisor for the Center for Leadership at Hope College and an advisor to the Michigan State University Master of Industrial Mathematics Program. In addition, she is on the advisory board for the CoDesign Collaborative, and she is a faculty member for CoreNet Global. Tracy’s work has been featured in TEDx, The Wall Street Journal, Work-Life Balance in the 21st Century (book), Globe and Mail (Canada), InsideHR (Australia), HR Director (UK), T3N (Germany), Real Estate Review Journal, Fortune, Inc. It's not a matter of a perfect balance, it requires arrangements, changes to culture, alignment, rewards and productivity measurement. Many corporations struggle these days with Bring Your Own Device, New Way of Working and implementing ways to serve the various roles employees have both inside and outside the company they work for. Time can be spent only once. What about office hours? Working on a laptop? Should permissions or denials count for everyone? What's the influence of gender and generation cohorts?
