An earl hires Hawkes to find his missing fiancée. But Aurelie wants to stay lost. She plans to escape to America as soon as she can sell her jewels. Will Hawkes prove friend or foe?

This novel is magical. The author weaves together a compelling plot, relatable characters, and profound emotion in a way that reaches inside you as if you're living the story. It's impossible not to love Hawkes and Aurelie, impossible not to feel what they're feeling. The plot unfolds in such an honest and heartfelt way, it feels inevitable. This novel further cements Julie Anne Long as my favorite Regency romance author. And as usual, Justine Eyre does a brilliant job with the audio narration.
