About this audiobook

Every year, on her birthday, Laura gets a letter from a stranger. That stranger claims to know the whereabouts of her missing friend Bobby, but there's a catch: he'll only tell her what he knows in exchange for something . . . personal.

So begins Laura's sordid relationship with her new penpal, built on a foundation of quid pro quo. Her quest for closure will push her to bizarre acts of humiliation and harm, yet no matter how hard she tries, she cannot escape her correspondent's demands. The letters keep coming, and as time passes, they have a profound effect on Laura.

From the author of Cruel Works of Nature comes a dark and twisted tale about obsession, guilt, and how far a person will go to put her ghosts to bed.

Contains mature themes.

Laura has been best friends with Bobby for both of their short lives. He is kidnapped and stolen from her which leads to a lifetime of harassment by his captor. I thought this was a very entertaining story and that it was well told. I look forward to reading more by Amor in the future.

I was surprisingly blown away. This story is scary, moving, and outright haunting. It never gets shy and glances away at those moments where a lesser writer would’ve. An easy 5-star read and I’ll be watching out for more by this writer in the future.

A excellent book chilling brutal in a subtle but effective way, opening light to the fact of pedophiles that live among us giving new lessons to parents to pay attention to their kids, and prepare for everything……

This was both heartbreaking and uplifting- a study in obsession, love, loss and grief. I’ve been a Laura, not stalked though lol, where grief took me away for a long time and I found this book pretty accurate to what it’s like. I’m glad I have this a shot.

I've read many books that deal with mind games and physiological things. But for some reason and I'm not sure why this book.angered me. I liked this book a lot. I enjoyed it a lot. However the thought of a child witnessing something and being tormented with a sick game until and through adulthood. It for some reason it just angered me. Once again loved the book.

It started off okay... it went down hill. I'm glad it wasn't that long.
