About this audiobook

The gods are funny . . . except when you piss them off. Then they suck. They really, really suck. Alexander Weiss discovers this tidbit when he inadvertently insults Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, and she casts him away on a forgotten isle filled with statues.

Being marooned is bad enough, but the fact that the island is also the home of Euryale, elder sister to Medusa, makes the situation a touch worse. The only thing keeping Alex from being petrified is the fact that Euryale has taken a liking to the blundering mortal. For now.

What follows next is a wild, adventurous tale filled with heroes, gods, monsters, love, and war that is nothing short of legendary.

    Short summary:

The events happening to the main character are more interesting that the character himself. Be prepared for a relatively fun way to burn some time, but don't expect Harry Potter or Percy Jackson levels of character development and writing.

    Long Summary:
Not the best thing that I've ever read but also not the worst. As a Greek Mythology nerd I enjoyed the author's take on many of the different myths that mad appearances, the gods and various monsters were the best part.

The main character is unfortunately probably the worst part. The main character is written in such a way that he's kind of unlikeable. His main personality trait seems to be that is doesn't respect anyone and makes light of many myths. That would be fine if he had some likeable traits to go along with it. Unfortunately he mostly just complains and moans about his situation. His negative attitude is understandable given what he's forced to go through, but a little bit of positivity would have definitely made him more likeable.

But if you can get past that like I did, you're in for a fun time.

Cute, lots of action, clever, and makes reference to a lot of Greek mythology.

I absolutely loved this book and had a blast reading it! The way the gods in this one behaved was so entertaining and gave them so much personality. This definitely started out right from the beginning as well, and I kept routing for the main character through the whole thing. Fans of Greek mythology will really enjoy this title. I'm hoping there may be a sequel and at some point this gets made into a graphic novel, a comic book series, or even a film (live action or animated)
