Very smart historical fiction with lots of research put in. It is a mystery series set in a period of time in England. Americans know well, but not in the context of Napoleonic War. The author has done so much more to paint what the life of the people, and especially the women would have been like at the time set within the context of their geopolitical reality, it is almost the next step in feminist Revelation, and I believe Ms. Jane Austen would approve. Though the overall bent of the story is quite a departure from the original, this is a very fun read. I cannot wait for the next books!
