About this audiobook

We last saw Miss Knightley in Bath, where she developed new feelings for her childhood friend, Mr. Philip Elton Suckling. She anxiously awaits a proposal from him, but whenever he attempts to finally ask the question, something interrupts them.

Now Miss Knightley must leave the neighborhood entirely to help her dear friend Miss Weston prepare for her upcoming nuptials. Together they will take on London, from the finest clothes shops to the most fashionable balls.

But there are many temptations in London… including the charming but rough poet Percy Lovett. When Lovett offers to show Miss Knightley all of the pleasures of London’s most glittering society, how can she say no?

Mr. Elton Suckling rushes to London, only to find that he has a rival. Now the poet and the gentleman are competing for our fair lady’s hand. It seems like every girl’s dream… Until a strange midnight visitor turns it into a nightmare.

Will Miss Knightley follow her first inclination of the heart and wait for Mr. Elton Suckling’s proposal? Or will the temptations of London prove too great for even her sensible nature?

Nice short book, some humour and clean romance, worth a listen.

Not really my type of book, but reasonably well done. Might have given it another star had the author taken a bit more trouble to use English words. Waistcoat not vest (which is an undergarment), forthcoming not upcoming (which to my horror is now gaining a foothold here, but certainly would have not been used in Georgian England) and autumn, not fall.....ever!
