In A RITE OF SWORDS (Book #7 in the Sorcerer's Ring), Thor grapples with his legacy, battling to come to terms with who his father is, whether to reveal his secret, and what action he must take. In a final, shocking twist, Thor learns that while his powers are supreme, he also has a hidden weakness—one that may just bring his final downfall. Will Thor and the others liberate the Ring and defeat Andronicus? Will Gwendolyn become the queen they all need her to be? What will become of the Destiny Sword, of Erec, Kendrick, Reece and Godfrey? And what is the secret that Alistair is hiding?
In A GRANT OF ARMS (Book #8 in the Sorcerer’s Ring), Thor is caught between titanic forces of good and evil, as Andronicus and Rafi use all of their dark sorcery to attempt to crush Thor’s identity and take control of his very soul. Under their spell, Thor will have to battle a greater fight than he has ever known, as he struggles to cast off his father and free himself from their chains. But it may already be too late. Gwendolyn, with Alistair, Steffen and Aberthol, ventures deep into the Netherworld, on her quest to find Argon and free him from his magical trap. Reece leads the Legion members as they embark on a near-impossible quest to do what has never been done before: to descend into the depths of the Canyon and find and retrieve the lost Sword. Romulus, armed with his magical cloak, proceeds with his sinister plan to cross into the Ring and destroy the Shield. Will Thor return to himself? Will Gwendolyn find Argon? Will Reece find the Sword? Will Romulus succeed in his plan? Will Kendrick, Erec, Bronson and Godfrey succeed in the face of overwhelming odds? And will Mycoples return? Or will the Ring fall into complete and final destruction?
With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, THE SORCERER'S RING is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Sorcerer's Ring #7 A Rite of Swords Morgan Rice:
So, this is not a book of deep philosophy or quasi-realistic action, or intricate writing (although the whole series could use a little more line editing). It is obviously meant to be a fantasy book in a fantasy series. Also, I think this series is intended primarily for somewhat younger readers who are not bothered by over-the-top battle scenes.
The good guys are (almost) always good and they can kill off five times as many bad guys with one blow as the bad guys. The bad guys are really bad, and whenever you think you have seen just how bad they can be, they kick it up a notch. Also, there is an awful lot of them. They are now starting to get in each other’s way.
And somehow, even though the good guys outfight the bad guys by such wide margins, things just keep getting worse for the people of the MacGill kingdom of the Sorcerer’s Ring.
Actually, in this book when Thor comes back with the dragon Mycoples, rescues Gwen from the Tower of Refuge, and flies all over the MacGill kingdom breathing fire over Andronicus’ million-man army, it looks for the first time in a long time as if the MacGils and their followers will finally catch a break.
But then the betrayals set in again, and Thor is sent alone into Andronicus’ camp. And against all reason, Andronicus manages to convince – or enchant – Thor into joining him.
Surely this won’t last? Up to this point, Thor has been a downright upright guy. Is he faking it? Is he under some sort of spell? But there are seventeen books in this series, and this only books seven. It may take a while before he is able to work his way out from under whatever this is.
A Grant of Arms: Book 8 Morgan Rice
Another enjoyable installment in the series. I have the bundle, 7, 8, and 9 but wanted to write a review for #8. As usual, it is filled with battles, magic, and imaginative lands and creatures and though there are impossible situations and releases from them, it is still engaging.
I do like the general style of writing but it is in need of editing and proofreading for numerous errors. There is too much repetition. However, the descriptions are good, thoughts and feelings give an in-depth feel to character development and the plot is forever twisting.
All the books could be longer, especially for the price, but it does seem that money-making is at the root of this. I am surprised that the standard of writing is acceptable to Amazon as they continually say that high standards are important.
Nevertheless, I do think that this series is worth reading, if somewhat annoying as regards poor editing. I wonder if I will afford to carry on with it, yet Thor's story is intriguing. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Too much reluctant hero nonsense. Everybody falls in love at first site. Out of nowhere everybody has these great skills and some rando always pops out at the last minute to save the day. Too many cliches.
