THE SORCERER'S RING tells the epic tale of the coming of age of Thorgrin, a special 14 year old boy, the least loved of his father, as he strives to become a warrior in the magical Kingdom of the Ring, and as he learns he has powers, and a destiny, he does not understand. An outsider, he must fight for acceptance as he strives to join the King’s elite Legion, and as he falls in love with the king’s 16 year old daughter. Most of all, he must learn who he really is, why his destiny is so important, and why the entire fate of The Ring depends on him.

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, THE SORCERER’S RING is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

    A Quest of Heroes The Sorcerer's Ring #1
    I don't understand why people are only giving this book 1 star. As a huge fantasy fiction reader, I found it to be well-written. It may not be as complex as Tolkien or Jordan but that doesn't mean it's bad. I found the story interesting, characters likable and well-hated as well. I've read a lot of the reviews on this book and most people are saying it's "too simple" or "too predictable". In the words of Hemingway "Do you really think big emotions come from big words?" As an aspiring writer, I give Morgan Rice props for putting out a good fantasy novel. It may not be my favorite, but it certainly is not the worst I've ever read. It kept me entertained.....isn't that the whole purpose? So I disagree with 99% of these reviews. I think it is worth picking up for a quick "simple" *rolls eyes* read!!

    A March of Kings The Sorcerer's Ring #2: When you thought that the story could not get better, the author delivers an amazing sequence that will keep you entertained and wishing for more! In this second episode, our hero Thor escapes from the dungeons where he was held captive under the charge of attempting to assassinate the king. But the king suffered another assassination attempt when Thor was captive and this time he is dying on his bed and Thor is proclaimed innocent by the king himself. But his adventures have just begun for a second time. He needs to conquer again the heart of Gwendolyn while he continues with his training to become a member of the Silver, the elite guard of the palace. His time is short, as all the soldiers and trainees are about to leave for The Hundred, a period of hundred days of training that is done on a faraway island under some challenging environment. While Thor continues his preparation to leave, the new king is crowned and some other threatens to appear to disturb what was once a calm period for the kingdom.
    I recommend this book to the permanent library of all readers who love a well-written story with a fascinating plot, that will keep you entertained for hours.

    I started writing this review on Book #9 in this never ending series, but then decided to go back to the beginning and perhaps save someone else the hours and hours of dull repetition that I've endured. If you decide to proceed, be warned that you will be listening to the exact same situations, feelings, and "revelations" happening to the same people over & over again. Examples of this include, but are not limited to:

    *With every action/speech, people/soldiers look at [her] with a newfound respect.
    * [He] feels he's really been accepted/found a home.
    *All that matters is valor & honor. Constantly.
    *[Everyone, more than once] knew in that moment they were going to die...
    *[A few characters, multiple times each] prayed to God to save [fill in the blank] just this once, and they'll never ask for anything again.

    This list could go on, but I'll spare you.

    Now we move on to many plot holes, some very obvious editing errors, and people changing their convictions (not minds; convictions) within a paragraph or two of expressing said conviction. A few examples include, but are not limited to:

    *Thor asked Thor a question; Thor handed something to Thor; etc.
    *She loves him with all that she is and NOTHING could ever change that; next paragraph he tells her something he has no control over, and she screams at him to leave & get away from her.
    *EVERYTHING is more [something] than the *next*. Each maiden was more beautiful than the next; each knight was more charming than the next. {It just doesn't make sense and it irritated me. Firstly, it should be "than the *last*"; and secondly, this phrase is the most overused in the entire series, and that's saying something.}
    *She was a most beloved princess with countless devoted servants, but she grew up in foster homes and traveled on her own for a long time hiding her powers? Huh?

    That last bit is where I tapped out. My OCD was compelling me to finish, but ... smh. I just can't.

    It's a shame because the premise was interesting and despite the annoyances I've become invested in many of the characters. I think most of these issues could've been avoided by employing a competent editor.
