About this audiobook

Heath

It’s a classic story: Boy meets girl, girl breaks boy’s heart, boy pretends to be gay to get back at girl, girl outs boy to everyone on Facebook…

Okay, maybe it’s not that classic. But it’s what happened to me.

When I bump into my cheating ex and catch sight of the moon-sized rock on her finger, there’s only one option to save face: pretend to be dating my gay best friend, Declan.

And when she outs me on Facebook and everyone I know sees it, there’s still only one option: keep pretending to be dating Declan.

And when Declan and I have to kiss to keep up the ruse and it turns out there’s actually a spark between us (more like a blazing inferno, if truth be told) there’s once again only one option…

Warning: this book is not appropriate for anyone who doesn’t like laughing, anyone who doesn’t like dogs, or anyone who doesn’t like hot men having a lot of sex…with each other.

    Book: ★★★★☆
    Audio: ★★★★☆

The story is quite simple and could be considered traditional in nature. It revolves around a straight man named Heath who wants to save his pride in front of his ex-partner, who cheated on him. To achieve this, Heath pretends to be in a romantic relationship with his best friend Declan, who is gay. However, their fake relationship unexpectedly transforms into something genuine.

What I found particularly amusing was that initially, both individuals were only pretending, without any hidden romantic feelings on either side. They meticulously fabricated an entire love story, from the way they fell in love to their intimate moments. It looks so hilarious that I couldn't help but burst into laughter. The second half of the story focus on their doubts and hesitation of the true love between them. It's heartfelt and stweet.

I must say that the audiobook version is also quite enjoyable. I particularly appreciated Joel Leslie's performance this time. While I usually find his narration a bit exaggerated, it worked well for this story!

Literally laughed until I cried, Heath is hilarious ? love the family interaction ? Declan is such a good guy, together they make each other better ❤️‍? witty, dirty, raw banter is luscious ? one thing I absolutely love is while there’s a few challenges and questionable decisions, Dec & Heath listen & learn and there’s not prolonged angst or stubborn refusal to admit what they have. Narrators did a good job, not fantastic but we’re true to characters (for some of the text threads I had to actually read it bc audio got a little jumbled) This is a series I can really sink my teeth in.

Friends to lovers stories are awesome! And the MCs were pretty much already a couple without realizing it. I loved the natural way the humor went along their shenanigans and how light and fun the story was.
