About this audiobook

#1 International Bestselling Series

It uses your DNA against you.

It knows no mercy, and feels no pain.

As the old world burns, only one truth remains.

IT. FOUND. US.

It's the middle of the night. The city's in total blackout. As the last cell tower fails, Lucy gets a desperate warning.

"Worse is coming."

In less than twenty four hours, mass looting will begin. Panic will quickly follow. Then violence. Technology has failed across the globe, and a disastrous chain reaction has begun. But as the people of San Francisco sleep, they have no idea what's about to happen. Lucy must seize her chance to get ahead.

As the last bytes of data vanish into the ether, the old world will be lost. In its wake, billions of citizens will be stranded in defunct cities, unable to communicate, or coordinate. For the first time in millennia, our species will be truly vulnerable.

That's when the pandemic hits.

They called it D4. It's not an enemy you can fight. It's a process. We've never seen anything like it. And it's just the beginning…

A gripping dystopian page-turner, with a whole new take on the pandemic genre.

Alright. Right now am fuming. In part three it was concluded that eating leaves of of a special kind made people sick, just like the "white powder". A desease not transmittal thorough air or contact. A horrifying trip by the sea, whilst getting sicker and hallucinating, leads to a clearing of the decease after being bound and unconscious for days. But now, in part 4, Lucy is perplext to why the starving people are getting sick and seems to think it can be spreading thorough human contact. WHAT! Seriously! Am listening to this and feel like I want to punch "Lucy" in the face. Why is she suddenly so incredibly stupid? Getting pissed of by this book stops me from listening. Need a break. Don't know if I will take it up again.

Loved these very well thought out. The set was written as a set. Meaning they didn’t waste words going on about what happened in previous over and over.

I really enjoyed this book! I would say that the only criticisms I have is that I wish the narrator would have paused more to convey a scene change. Because I tend to be working on things while I listen to the books it would catch me off guard. Also I feel like there was a thread left incomplete in regards to the Senator at the end. Overall a good book that I do recommend.

WHERE IS THE ONE THAT FOLLOWS THIS ONE? BECAUSE IT SUCKS TO READ BOOK 1 AND NOT THE REST OF THE SERIES.

    *****SPOILERS AHEAD*****

    Why did I read this?

So, I *loved the first three parts, wonderful, brutal, sci-fi dystopia, super neat and interesting alien life, etc., but starting with Part 4 I feel like it started dropping off quick. The story kind of goes no where fast, despite all kinds of things actually happening, but I never felt like it actually mattered anymore.

And by the very end of the book… Still no real character progression or conclusion is reached, it just keeps… going. Even the epilogue is like “well, creatures still here and we dealing”, which I wouldn’t mind if there had been some deeper theme of “learn to coexist, not just kill threats” or something, but no; the story has some minor goals of other characters achieved, but by then I didn’t even care or agree with the majority of the characters’ reasoning. Literally, humanity is about to become extinct, and Lucy is waaaaay more concerned about human rights violations?? Obviously that’s terrible, but it’s like focusing on a murder trial while the titanic is sinking. I don’t know, I think the author had a great idea, was contracted to write five parts, and didn’t figure out how to bring it home.

Great series overall, I basically binge listened to the whole thing over the course of 3 days. Besides minor annoyances like the author using the word "forwards" instead of forward and "dived" instead of dove, I really enjoyed the whole thing. The narrator had great range and style, although there were a few times where the tone used didnt quite match its written description. The premise was interesting and the author's descriptions were quite vivid and rich. I'd recommend this to anyone into this genre.
