About this audiobook

From Blake Pierce, bestselling author of ONCE GONE (a #1 bestseller with over 900 five star reviews), comes book #8 in the heart-pounding Mackenzie White mystery series.

In BEFORE HE HUNTS (A Mackenzie White Mystery—Book 8), victims are turning up dead in FBI Special Agent Mackenzie White’s home state of Nebraska—all shot in the back of the head, and all bearing the card “Barker Antiques.” The same card her father’s murderer left on his body years ago.

With a sudden urgency in the present, the time has finally come for Mackenzie to face her ghosts, to face her darkest past, and to find her father’s killer.

But her trip back down memory lane may take her to places she’d rather not see, and to discoveries, she’d rather not find. She finds herself playing cat and mouse with a killer more sinister than she could imagine, and with her fragile psyche collapsing, this case, of all of them, maybe the one that does her in for good.

A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, BEFORE HE, HUNTS is book #8 in a riveting new series—with a beloved new character—that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

Also available by Blake Pierce is ONCE GONE (A Riley Paige Mystery—Book #1), a #1 bestseller with over 900 five star reviews—and a free download!

The whole book was ruined by the narrator. She used nonsensical phrasing, emphases and expression whilst constantly hindering the flow and understanding through her use of incorrect and inconsistent pronunciation choices. So disappointing.

This book would be much better with the old nartorator.

If I wasn't so invested in the characters, I would have quit the book. The story is great. The narrator and her breathy sultry romance novel voice is just awful. The way she announces the chapters was also very grating on the nerves.

The new narrator is distracting and making it very difficult to get into the story. She does not suit the stort at all. I'm very disappointed and considering quiting the series. This happened with another of this author's series, as well. Terrible decision.

I agree with all the other reviews. I'm invested in the series so I'm going to try to stick their the rest but this narrator makes me want to scream. Between her chaaaaappppter and father pronunciations I could scream.

How do you change the narrator after 7 books? This new person was so hard to listen to that I don’t think I can finish the series

The book is the great - The narrator on the other hand...

Sounds like she's trying WAY too hard... Tone, pitch and intonation are all wrong.

Gave up after the first chapter and opted to read the book instead.

The book is great, but this narrator is horrible!!! How can you read a thriller as if it was a romance from the 19th century????

I love this series but this new narrator is horrible. Her voice makes me sleepy and she is hard to follow because her tone is completely wrong.

What the heck happened to the narrator ?!?! The new one is really weird. Maybe others like it - but it’s definitely not my cup of tea. Had to stop listening. Which is very frustrating.

I agree with Tracy. The narrator for this story is inappropriate. She doesn't convey the personality of Mackenzie White. It's distracting, and I had to stop listening to the book. I just couldn't take it. Should have gotten someone else to narrate.

I don't like when the narrators of the books change. Gives a whole different feel. This narrator should read romances with her soft breathy voice!

I love the plot and MacKenzie story lines and all the other books in this series. The narration in this book was difficult to tolerate at best. The airy, throaty voice sounded like a narrator that should be on 900 call lines instead of narrating a murder mystery.

Unfortunately couldn’t get past the first chapter due to the narrator ? I had to find a hard copy to read and it was a brilliant story line! Such a shame about the narrator

What an awful narrator. It caused me to cringe to be forced to listen to her dragging out the words

The story itself is great. They switched the reader and she is horrible. Im super annoyed with her drawn out words, and her tones are totally off. I don’t know if I’ll be able to finish listening to this book or any others shes narrating.

The narration is terrible. Very hard to follow with the narrater’s inflection.
