This charming tale, a Gryphon Honor Book, introduces six-year-old Posey as she nervously prepares to start the first grade. Before her little brother came along, Posey was treated like a princess. "This is a sweet book, and children will relate to [Posey's] fears about her new experience ."-School Library Journal

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Posey nervously anticipates her first day of first grade. She'd love to wear her favorite tutu that day and be Princess Posey, the Pink Princess, but her mother says no. A chance encounter at the store with her new teacher inspires Miss Lee to invite all her new first graders to wear what they want and be part of the first-grade parade. A simple story that reassuringly addresses some of the common fears children have.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is so cute! Posey has to face the challenge of going to first grade and she can't wear her pink tutu. Her tutu makes her feel special, courageous, and a pink princess. The best thing happens when she receives an invitation in the mail from Miss Lee, stating their first day of school they can wear their most comfortable clothing or costumes. Not only that but they will have a first day parade and not have to walk down the blue hallway by themselves.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Posey gets carried away with a game and hurts the feelings of a new boy. Then the tables are turned and she sees what it feels like to be cruelly treated when neighbors tease her brother. Greene is great at getting inside the heads of kids.
