- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Mattie O'Keefe is 20 years old and fleeing her past by going to join her brother as he mines for gold in Deadwood, South Dakota. Upon arriving her circumstances change and she is convinced that gold mining will give her a future and happiness. She will meet many helpful and good people there in the town; one of them being a street preacher, who she has a hard time trusting. But her past will eventually catch up to her and the things that happen when it does was quite interesting. A story of determination, of how folks lived in a very rough part of the world during that time and of the redemption that can be found through Jesus.
