The Berenstain Bears at the Aquarium
Author

Jan Berenstain

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bears books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

SUMMARYThe Berenstain Bears go to the aquarium. Brother and Sister want to see the whale and dolphins. On their way to find them, they see seals, otters, catfish, and more sea animals. When they finally find the whale and dolphins, they see them get feed and the whale splashes them with water.REVIEWThe first thing I noticed about this book was that it was very simple. The authors also repeatedly use the word "says." This is great for this age of students because the repetition helps them when they read. I also like that going to the aquarium is an activity that students can connect with. I also liked that the book gave little descriptions of the sea animals that they encountered. For instance, the book says, "The swordfish has a very long nose" and "Pointy, too."
