About this audiobook
Hans Christian Andersen was the profoundly imaginative writer and storyteller who revolutionized literature for children. He gave us the now standard versions of some traditional fairy tales-with an anarchic twist-but many of his most famous tales sprang directly from his imagination.
The thirty stories here range from exuberant early works such as "The Tinderbox" and "The Emperor's New Clothes" through poignant masterpieces such as "The Little Mermaid" and "The Ugly Duckling," to more subversive later tales such as "The Ice maiden" and "The Wood Nymph."
Hans Christian Andersen
Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish writer and author of many notable books including The Snow Queen. He specialized in writing fairytales that were inspired by tales he had heard as a child. As his writing evolved his fairytales became more bold and out of the box. Andersen's stories have been translated into more than 125 languages and have inspired many plays, films and ballets.

Reviews for Fairy Tales

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Quirky but decent effort.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was bought and read this as a child, so the stories have a particular resonance with me, but I honestly think it's a wonderful collection. The artwork is beautiful and the tales touching and full of imagination - they're undiminished when read as an adult with more knowledge of cliché and similar styles. Just great.
